Retirement Livery South West also in regional board

My mare is at Goodmerry and I would highly recommend it. Each horse is treated as an individual and now mine is quite elderly she has been moved to a flatter field with more sedate companions! The owner is very experienced and keeps me up to date with how my girl is doing. I visit once a year...

    livery in Cornwall

Not sure if you are still looking but I have my mare on retirement livery at Goodmerry farm near Quethiock. I'm pretty sure Ellen does diy as well. It's a lovely yard with a school and brilliant grazing.

    Stage 2 Exam Hertfordshire

Thanks, I'm going to have a few care/lunge/flat lessons with a local instructor, just need some jump lessons at a school as the horse I'm riding at the moment isn't ready to jump yet. The jumping is the part I'm most worried about! Are you planning to take your exam soon?

    Stage 2 Exam Hertfordshire

Had a look on their website, looks very nice, might be a bit far for me though. Have you had lessons there?

    Stage 2 Exam Hertfordshire

I'm looking to take my Stage 2 in the summer and was wondering which centre to go to. I live in Hatfield so I think my closest options are Oaklands, Trent Park or Lee Valley, unless anyone knows of any others? I would like to have some lessons on the school horses before the exam - Trent Park...

Any other trainee riding instructors out there?

Thanks for the advice ruth, I'm definitely going to find a registered instructor to come and look at my riding and lunging. I'm also going to investigate having some lessons at Trent Park as this is where I'll probably do my exam. I found that really helped for my Stage 1. I think I will do both...

Any other trainee riding instructors out there?

Hello all, I'm hoping to do my Stage 2 in the summer, got my Stage 1 and R&RS a few years ago. I think I'm most worried about the jumping and lunging, need some more lessons I think! I work full time and have a share horse and find it quite difficult to fit training in. I'm still debating about...

    Bit Mechanics

That's a really interesting article thanks. The pictures are really helpful. One thing surprised me though - I've always been told that a loose ring stops the horse from taking hold of the bit so it's interesting the author says there isn't much off a different between that and the eggbutt.

    Bit Mechanics

I was having a conversation the other day about bits and it got me thinking that I really haven't got much idea about how different types of bits work - most horses I've ridden have just been in a bog standard snaffle. People have so many different opinions it all starts to get confusing. So has...

Looking for the ultimate yard boots

I've had my Ariat Glaciers for just over four months now and they are awesome! Usually it takes about 10 mins of hacking before my feet are numb with cold but not with these on - they are very warm but breathable so you can wear them in hot weather as well. They are waterproof so you can just...

Anyone doing the Equine nutrition course?

I am too. Have watched all the videos for week one and I'm finding it really interesting. I'm gonna rewatch the vids and make notes so hopefully some info will make it into my brain! :D

    Work for Rides?

Hi Puddleduck, I'm in Hatfield, Herts. Dominobrown - that sounds like exactly what I'm looking for, shame you're so far away!

    Work for Rides?

Gentlegiant your friend's offer sounds amazing I would jump at the chance of that, so strange she has had no suitable replies. Thanks for all your replies, I think I'll put an ad up, be very honest about what I can afford & my abilities & see if anyone's interested.

Please show me your best winter jackets..and are they really warm & waterproof!

I'll second steering clear of equestrian brands - I have a North Face 3 in 1 jacket with a zip out fleece - it's really warm and waterproof. It survived Download Festival when it chucked it down about two days in a row - I was still bone dry! It's fine for riding in as fairly short - only...

    Work for Rides?

I see where you're coming from, I wouldn't say I need lessons for the flatwork part of Stage 2 (just a bit of tidying up of my position etc) but the jumping I would due to not having jumped properly for a while as was riding one horse that wasn't allowed to jump and another that was very green...
