My mare is on Regumate because she gets painful ovaries and can't canter when in season. It's worked brilliantly- she's still her 'quirky' self, by no means a dobbin, but she's no longer unpredictable far more relaxed through her back when I ride.

My mare is exactly the same, always worse when coming into season. Have tried hormone supplements which have helped but recently put her on Regumate and there has been a big improvement when I ride.

I'd have further investigations if finances allow and its a route you want to go down. Have you had a second opinion from a different vet? I really feel for you and hope you get this sorted.

I know the vet etc have looked over him but it really does sound like he's in pain. Has his back been x-rayed?

I've got stretch and flex training wraps which wrap around the fetlock (like sports medicine boots) but far nicer. They're made out of fabric which lets the air in to cool the legs.
