I have bites on my back so midges still around at the moment! I've found in the past global herbs products for sweet itch work really well, especially the cream!
My mare is on Regumate because she gets painful ovaries and can't canter when in season. It's worked brilliantly- she's still her 'quirky' self, by no means a dobbin, but she's no longer unpredictable far more relaxed through her back when I ride.

My mare is exactly the same, always worse when coming into season. Have tried hormone supplements which have helped but recently put her on Regumate and there has been a big improvement when I ride.
I'd have further investigations if finances allow and its a route you want to go down. Have you had a second opinion from a different vet?

My mare does this!! Most evenings when I go to get her in she wees, most mornings when she sees me she wees. She's also started to pretend to wee on the way to her stable so it takes me hours to get her in bcos she keeps stopping!
There's absolutely nothing wrong with her, she's just a cow bag...
I've got stretch and flex training wraps which wrap around the fetlock (like sports medicine boots) but far nicer. They're made out of fabric which lets the air in to cool the legs. But in all honesty I like them but they aren't as amazing as I expected them to be, and they are pricey! Hope this...
I've used a wintec front riser pad as I have the same problem as you and wasn't impressed at all, mainly with the material, it did the job but completely altered the fit of the rest of the saddle.
