    Giving up horses???

Apologies for being whiney in advance! I've been considering giving horses up for months now. I've just graduated from an equine degree and alongside it being the most pointless degree ever (is that an "I told you so" I hear?!) its made me really sick of horses. I actually said the words that...

Which areas to focus on when schooling?

I suppose as a bit of an add on to the 4Y/o thread below: what would you be focusing on/ adding to the training of the following horse (oversized pony), rising 5? Don't get me wrong there's lots to work on, but I always wonder where my focus should be. I currently just pick an area and work on...

    Equine Clicker Training Experiences/ Resources.

I'd turned my nose up at it for a fair while but over christmas my horse was at a yard with a terrible school so I wanted to do something else with her. Started with the click - treat, click- treat, etc., for about 2-3 minutes. Then when she started to get a bit mouthy I linked it to a...

    Instructor near Moreton Morrell

Any recommendations for an instructor near Moreton Morrell way? To come out to a yard as I dont have transport as of yet. I have a rising 5 connie and Im really needing someone on the ground. More for my mistakes than hers! Im more interested in dressage so would prefer someone more to that side...

Starting to compete my native - gear + turnout for dressage?

They do look really similar, even the dip dyed tail! Yours is slightly finer than my hippo of a pony though ;) rara007, thank you! I'm not planning on doing too much showing, but the show ground nearby does lots of showing classes and I want to tick as many boxes with her so I'll probably do a...

Starting to compete my native - gear + turnout for dressage?

Sorry if this is all a bit numpty-ish but I've never competed a native before, and haven't competed since I was about 15 (and never did much anyway). Also I've grown out of all of my old show gear so need to buy some new things! ;) I'll try and be concise to save everyone a barrage of...

Should I be worried by how little she's drinking?

Sorry cross posts! No hard feed either, she's never been too interested in her salt lick but will put it in her field just in case. I'm prepared to give her a bit of sloppy chaff with some salt in, but she stops eating it after a few days when she gets bored of it.

Should I be worried by how little she's drinking?

She's been out 24/7 this week because its been mild. Its only properly rained today but there's been dew on the ground in the mornings. I'm trying to convice myself she's getting all her water out of the grass haha!

Should I be worried by how little she's drinking?

My pony has never been a big drinker. On thirsty days she'd manage half your average sized tub trug bucket overnight when stabled. But its usually more like a third (she's a 14.1 connemara). In the day i haven't been able to keep track as she's had an automatic trough. However a few days...

Quick question on Equi-Theme saddle pad sizes.

Was just wondering if somebody can tell me how big equi-theme saddle pads come up? particularly the harliquin style ones! My pony is in a 16.5 saddle but some full size pads swamp her and I recently bought a pony sized cottage craft pad which is too small- so I don't know whether to go for full...

CC on my new pony and what would you do?

No they don't technically carry the dun gene as far as I'm aware but its what they call buckskin in the studbook. She was distinctly yellow tinged a few months ago and her full sister is definitely "dun"/buckskin. She does have a dorsal stripe funnily enough but that's starting to go grey too...

CC on my new pony and what would you do?

Thanks, she was definitely the cutest I went to see! Magicmillbrook: that's pretty much what I'm doing currently, just letting her get out and see the world with no pressure on her. She's done more than enough already. The yard I'm at doesn't have 24hr turnout yet, but should transition over in...

My 2 year old traditional - lots of pics!

He gorgeous! Love his face markings. And I think he'll round out as he gets older too :)

CC on my new pony and what would you do?

Thought I'd ask people their opinions on my new little project. She's a connie mare just turning 3 and stands at around 14.2hh (on her tippy toes). It was one of those cases where I saw her and I just had to have her no matter what :D. When I went to see her the people I was with and I guessed...

    Supplement for healthy coat/skin/hooves?

I have a little connie mare who is currently on one double netted net of hay a night and literally a handful topchop(?) unmolassed chaff when the others get feed in the evening. She's out in the field on fairly decent grazing during the day. I'm wondering what people would advise supplement...
