Pictures Yo. On the hunt for new breeches again....

Happy New Year and all that. As most chaps will know, shopping for men's breeches can be frustrating, especially if you're looking for something under £150 that ARE NOT black, white, beige navy or baggy. After searching the WWW for 90 minutes these are at the top of my list: Kramer Breeches...

I want to immortalise my horse in art

Can anyone recommend a talented artist, or any great equine art? I'd love to commission a painting of my beloved steed! Needn't be hyper realistic. I'd prefer something that captures his character, expression, soft eyes etc.

Is that a crown that you wear? (actually just a riding hat question!)

Thanks! I tried one today. It fitted well and was very comfy. I'll probably go back and buy it tomorrow. Hoorah!

Is that a crown that you wear? (actually just a riding hat question!)

Yo yo yo horsie homies. Anyone got any recommendations for riding hats/helmets for everyday use under £150? Must have ventilation. Also, I've always wanted to know the difference between riding hats and cycle helmets in terms of safety standards/protection. Seeing as cyclists can hurtle along...

    guy wearing riding tights

I'm a male that learnt to rider later in life, but I can remember that getting-out-at-a-petrol-station feeling. It felt weird at first but I guess because you don't see other men out and about in riding gear often? However the self-concious thing is something you just get over. If anything I do...

    guy wearing riding tights

Riding tights? Jeggings? What's going on? Is there even such a thing as riding tights? Isn't that just what Americans call jodhpurs?

my horse is an utter twat, and its made me feel upset and hopeless....

I must admit I didn't read all of this but will just say on my yard the only horses that act like this are the ones kept in pairs. Most of our horses live in groups of 5-6 and aren't so fixated on one horsey pal.

Yard rule for wearing hi viz

I wear it cos it's sensible and I care about my horse, but I'd be pissed off if someone I was paying told me to use it. I hate micro management with a vengeance. Hope that makes sense!

    Sexy riding apparrell adverts??

Ha! This is what most of my male friends imagine horsey women to be like! I never correct them although the one's that have visited the yard I keep my horse at do seem to be slightly disappointed by the crud encrusted women there! As a male rider I rarely see clothing for me being modelled at...

    Riding on icy roads

My horse is barefoot too, and I do occasionally ride on the icy roads but only quiet ones that are flat and sunlit. Little lanes tend to be shady and stay icy longer. It's not nice if you hit a steep downhill icy patch on tarmac so as others say, probably best avoided. Also don't be fooled by...

What riding boots for husband returning to riding?

You should treat him to some long boots then! I'm a bloke too and bought a pair of Brogini Casperia several months ago. They're Smart, comfortable and have lasted well. Also at under 100 quid they were cheaper than short boots and half chaps.

    Navicular and barefoot - thoughts

Barefoot is the only thing that worked for me. My horse became on/off lame after doing a XC day (this was 9 years ago). Because his lameness was on/off it took ages to properly diagnose. Initial x-rays showed a chip off the pedal bone. And after x-rays, injections and wotnot, the insurance...

When did you know you were ready?

I bought after about 2 years of lessons and paying for hacks. It just made economic sense and was simply cheaper to own. Also lessons only get you so far at some schools and can become repetitive. BUT most of all I loved a particular horse and wanted him all for myself!!
