Hi all!
I am going to look at a DIY livery yard soon and I was wondering what key questions should I ask the YO/YM? What sorts of things do you need to know before you go, or that you wish you had asked when choosing a livery yard? Anything from what their expectations of you as a livery are to...
Thanks so much already for the advice! I had looked at the challenge awards, I think the books seem a bit better so will definitely have a look on fb for them and shall invest - the PC manual of horsemanship sounds like a bible I ought to acquaint myself with!
Hello!
I was wondering if I could pick your collective brains about books which you would recommend for someone getting their first horse. I have ridden all my life and have previously worked at a riding school, but of course, never having owned my own I want to be as fully brushed up as I can...
I also had a lot of trouble getting lessons as they were fully booked, as were lots around me - keep trying. I said this is the most important thing in the world to me so I just had to make it work!
I love this post so much! I agree wholeheartedly with the poster above as well! In a stroke of mad coincidence, I also had a lesson on a riding school horse today after a year out of the saddle! Top notch stuff. I texted my boyfriend after and I also used the word 'beaming'! So happy
EMD Eventing is my fave, she is a really kind down to earth person and like you say I think it's better when they have a job like the rest of us and know our struggles too!

Thank you so much for you advice- I think you're completely right. I will definitely get a couple of books and do as much learning as possible and if I can definitely try and loan before I buy!
