    Arena surfaces and maintenance questions

We have a sand and fibre surface. The fibre was rotovated into the sand at the start 3 years ago, it was watered to help it settle as we put it in summer. We have not watered it since. We harrow it when it has recently rained, or at least when it is not bone dry as that seems to bring the fibre...

    Saddle help for round pony

He's had a lighter rider on who he was fine with. I think it only becomes an issue when he rushes, but the saddle in itself doesn't cause it. I mean I have cantered him and have to stay out of the saddle as with his short stride I just cant sit on it, so it must have been rubbish then for him...

    Saddle help for round pony

Thankyou, yes I know it will be mostly devoucoux and wow etc if past experience is anything. I guess I was hoping to just look at a lot of saddles, and maybe see if any of the tack places had a stock of second hand saddles. I'm close enough that I could borrow one on the Friday and return it on...

Laminitis caught early - how long before grass?

I don't necessarily blame my vet, she's newly qualified and cant be expected to know everything. Certainly something I'm going back to her with though!

    Saddle help for round pony

Going to have to Google upswept panels too! I'll have a look at the silhouette too, thankyou. I'm going to bramham next weekend so I'm hoping to look at lots of saddles and ask a lot of questions there too.

Laminitis caught early - how long before grass?

Interesting, obviously the vets never said anything!! I might ring and ask as she was surprised he didn't test positive as he did to my shame have fat pads. He isbeing managed with the one with EMS so hopefully it will be alright.

Laminitis caught early - how long before grass?

My pony is the same, took sedalin (ineffective) two muscular sedatives and a blind fold to get him still enough for s blood test. Now I'm trying to train him with a clicker reward after I pinch him really hard

Laminitis caught early - how long before grass?

Remind me what the copper does? Fat pony is now on protexin and probalance. Desperately trying to get him ridden (see saddle post lol) in addition to lunging and being lead from my horse as I've eaten too much and I'm too fat for him, soaked hay for me too! :D

Laminitis caught early - how long before grass?

My 12.3 was on full box rest for 2 weeks following lami at Easter, he doesn't sound as uncomfortable as yours but we put him on bute for a few days on vets advice. On 2 small soaked nets a day. Tested for EMS, but negative. Then out in the day on a bald paddock (total bare bare earth from being...

    Saddle help for round pony

Thankyou, I'll have a look at the paddle. I've also been recommended AH saddles and looked at a solution saddle, although I know both of those are out of my budget even second hand!! Its tricky with a small pony who needs an adult rider. The t4 hasn't got much to sit in, and the pony tends to...

    Saddle help for round pony

I've not posted in ages and wondered if anyone could help. I have a 12.3 pony that needs an adult rider. Currently he has a thorowgood t4 pony saddle which is a good fit on him, however at 15 inches its diddy for the rider. The max saddle length he can take is 15.5, and thorowgood do a version...

    Increasing grazing biodiversity.

Meadow mania mixes are great, and also naturescape, although check those for horse suitable plants. Management can be key, letting the grass be able to seed each year (traditional hay meadows are cut around june), not letting any areas get rank by becoming toilet zones, so you need to poo...

13 stone rider, 13.3hh HW Cob???

I have a self imposed limit on myself of 10 stone (naked lol) for my 13h pony, no riding for me for the next couple of weeks until I shift a few pounds I've put on. Personally I'd be happy riding that size at up to 11.5 stone max, but then I've not seen the pony for the stockiness. Saddle wise...

    Fencing off muddy gateways

We did this last year, around the gate and along our fence on geotech fabric for a 2m wide strip 15m long up to their shelter. Its muddy now, but a lot firmer than the surrounding, I can see it will need to be scraped back in a couple of years (although I dug it out by hand this spring) and...
