There are plenty of places that prepare you for BHS exams. Most of the AIRE ones will run courses, or tell you who to get in contact with.
I know Clonshire and Brennanstown do. Or Kildalton College at Piltdown.
Personally, I think you should go to a yard that offers BHS qualifications, and take at least up to Stage 2. You would then find it much easier to get a position, and a lot of places require qualifications for insurance purposes.

There are often cattle/cows in a field in a village near me and everyone just rides through. I've never known them "charge" at a horse and rider though they are curious and watch.

Most hurdles are flat race bred, there's a few specific NH sires but remember Red Rum was bred for the flat.

Not always. If what's in his field (new grass) is more appealing than the alternative (hard feed, hay).......that's the problem.
