Those of you with andalusian, cobs or any thing with long manes and tails!!

My Highland (floor-length white tail) spends the winter in a TailGator and I don't know how I ever lived without it! He turns out in it no problem - we've gone from "mudlocks" and stained tail to something like that in the photo on the site. I use a proper hairband (not plaiting bands)...

Help please, swollen sheath/dangly bits. With Photo.

Our yard manager's horse once had something like this and it turned out to be a piece of kidney stone that had broken off and got stuck in the urethra. Ow :-S I think in the end they used ultrasound to break it up further so he could wee it out. Is the swelling on one side or all the way...

Help for the poo stained mare?

My grey is disgusting - and hairy! - and a nightmare to keep clean. On a day-to-day basis I use Vanish sticks (no, really!) which are great and actually very gentle on the skin and the coat. If you've got permanent yellow stains, the only thing I've ever found that gets rid is WOW...

My Horse is baffling me (also posted in Stable yard)

It does sound like it's muscular, as he's loosening up after some exercise. Some time ago my boy took a nasty fall over a jump in the school and put his back out. It wasn't immediately obvious as he's very stoic, but he had tweaked his pelvis to one side slightly by standing on his tail when...

    Sudden chronic sneezing whilst exercised

Ah, that's interesting to know - thank you. Perhaps there's something going around. I an hoping it isn't the beginnings of RAO or something left over from the bug he had in the summer, since we've not long been back in proper work.

    Sudden chronic sneezing whilst exercised

He is stabled, but has been for ten years and this only started two weeks ago! He's also not coughing, but very definitely sneezing.

    Melanoma question - any advice?

I'd personally avoid melanomas, especially on a young horse (I'm guessing he's about 5)? My grey gelding started developing them around the same age - he's now 14. 8 years on, I've just had a HUGE (seriously - grapefruit-sized) melanoma removed from inside his sheath, because it got to the...

    Sudden chronic sneezing whilst exercised

Hi, A couple of weeks ago my 14yo horse started breathing strangely when he's exercised. He gets out of puff easily and makes a strange groaning noise, followed by several sneezes. This happens only when he's ridden and whenever we get out of a walk - we'll get a little way, then he starts...
