My Highland (floor-length white tail) spends the winter in a TailGator and I don't know how I ever lived without it!
He turns out in it no problem - we've gone from "mudlocks" and stained tail to something like that in the photo on the site. I use a proper hairband (not plaiting bands)...
Our yard manager's horse once had something like this and it turned out to be a piece of kidney stone that had broken off and got stuck in the urethra. Ow :-S I think in the end they used ultrasound to break it up further so he could wee it out.
Is the swelling on one side or all the way...
My grey is disgusting - and hairy! - and a nightmare to keep clean. On a day-to-day basis I use Vanish sticks (no, really!) which are great and actually very gentle on the skin and the coat.

I'd personally avoid melanomas, especially on a young horse (I'm guessing he's about 5)? My grey gelding started developing them around the same age - he's now 14.
8 years on, I've just had a HUGE (seriously - grapefruit-sized) melanoma removed from inside his sheath, because it got to the...
Hi,
A couple of weeks ago my 14yo horse started breathing strangely when he's exercised. He gets out of puff easily and makes a strange groaning noise, followed by several sneezes. This happens only when he's ridden and whenever we get out of a walk - we'll get a little way, then he starts...
