Thank-you everyone for your help. I am very excited to get started on her bitting and the rest of her education. I am going to research all the suggestions and pick one I think would be best suited to her. :)
I have always wondered why people completely leave horses until they are old enough to fully back, I understand with things that require strength such as leaning on them etc but with the things that just require their mind I don't understand. Surely it's like not teaching a child anything until...
Hello everyone,
I have recently got a Welsh D mare who is 3 and I will start backing her in Jan/Feb time (she'll be 3 and a half) depending on her size, strength and the weather (we have no all weather arena atm) but I would like to start doing the basics now, like bitting her, taking her for...
Thank-you to everyone for all your replies, they have been very helpful.
Hihosilver, there have been a few changes in my life lately and I agree with you about that might being the cause for my loss of confidence. I am sorry to hear about your dad and I am of a similar mindset about looking...
I don't blame you for being upset with both of them, geez you have been so helpful and patient, far more than I ever could be for a sibling in such a situation.
Good on you for putting your foot down though, clever of your sister to start slinging insults about too.
Best of luck with standing...
You aren't a failure at all, that sounds like you made the best and safest decision which in my book is success. I was always taught that if I feel like I am in danger then it's best to get off, you just get back on when ready. I can sympathise with the confidence knock back. Only you can do...
I remember when I was at a pony club show back in 06 and one of the boy members (must of been over 16) took his cob in, looked like a right baby, and continuously beat the poor thing because it was scared of the fillers. I don't mean just softly, he was full on beating it. But no one went in and...
What a horrible person you must be to even think about doing that, let alone act on it. Poor little sweetheart, let's just hope Karma is fast acting on the s*d that did it! RIP little one.
I was doing more for my pony when I was 10 than she is now by the sound of it. So I hate to say it but she doesn't deserve the blessing of being a horse owner imo, she should sell the pony and pay everyone back the money she owes and call it a lesson learnt.
That's awesome. He is beautiful and who doesn't love a safe, sane pony. I have a 13.2hh Welsh C who was my first pony when i was 10 and tiny and is still with me 11 years later and even though i am 5'7ft. Ponies are seriously underrated, I can still jump, hack, cross country and school to ours...
Fatpiggy is right, we saw one (barely) careering down the road in almost pitch darkness. Had a long line of cars behind it which was the only way you ever see them but you still can't see them well. Pony looked terrified and it's so horrible to see. I just hope they got home safely.
Thank-you everyone. I think I am going to just take things slowly, as you've said, and get my mum to be there for support for a while. I am fine on my other pony and my mum's two horses, all I feel is a tad nervous but because I had my low point on my TB I think he's the one it is going to take...
I would be clipping my Welsh C soon if it weren't for the fact the battery pack for my clippers has finally given up on life. But because it has I have to try and find £80 odd quid to spare for a new one, that's going to be fun.
I am genuinely gobsmacked reading about the 'crush videos', how can that be a real thing? What is wrong with these people!! How do you get any form of pleasure from harming anything, especially something so tiny and sweet. Sickening!
