The (re)start of a golden era of Badminton?

Also as another point to add, I worked for a young rider last year whilst I took a break from racing, and I could count the number of times she had a good canter on one hand! I agree, you can't canter an event horse as much as a racehorse, you have other things you need to concentrate on but by...

The (re)start of a golden era of Badminton?

That's interesting that they mentioned it actually, I didn't get to watch it as I'm in America at the moment with limited internet! Our horses canter 6 days a week, and we do interval training. They also go in the walker in the evenings. Trot one lap to warm up. One lap of our track is just...

The (re)start of a golden era of Badminton?

Adding to the previous comment about possible respiratory issues/issues... I work with racehorses and we have to listen to their breathing as we canter especially when we are breezing. If they whistle, make any unnatural noise, they will go and have a tie back operation to help. No horse will...

More pointless questions... using tendon boots vs "cooking" legs

Can I ask why you feel the need to cover your horses legs at all times? Genuine question, I'm really not a great believer in boots and don't see the benefit? X

    Does your cob ..

Yep, this is a picture of my family's fantastic little cob. Sorry about my personal scruffiness....I was a lot younger, and hungover and forgot my hairnet!! Karl is great, he does take a lot of schooling to get him good - he does get on the forehand easily, he over bends and finds extension...

    Essential items when hacking out

Can I ask why you might take a knife out hacking? Guessing its nothing to do with self defence....? :o

Advice needed please - potential new horse. (Warning - LONG!!)

Can you get the vet to look again at the end of the trial? Would be a shame if she is already building your confidence back up, and gets sent back due to a dodgy trim. X

do you smoke and ride at the same time?

Must say, I was probably one of those riders mentioned in Lambourn, sparking up a fag!! Silly story comes to me. I was riding out in a lot of around 7, on my favourite horse. Sparked up on the way home, buckle end, twisted around to talk to the person behind me. Pheasant flies out, horse...

Crooked horse - thermal images update

For anyone looking for someone to do T.I in the Lincolnshire and surrounding areas, I could not recommend Amy Mottram enough. She is fully qualified and insured, cost friendly and she does physiotherapy for both horse and rider together. If you pm me, I'll be quite happy to link you to her...

Riding Racehorses, how to get past my sudden fear?

Adding my two cents but I took lots of horses racing too, and always brought my horses home. The only time I didn't was at Newbury race course, where the horse got electrocuted. (spelling?) Of course, I've seen a few break down at home and racing but unfortunately it's the bad part of the...

british racing school or northern racing college ?

Hey there, when I went to the British Racing School, we had around 5 people on our course who hadn't ridden before. Only 1 finished. I would definitely recommend having a riding lesson or two before you go to get the feel. If you finish the course with the BRS, you have a NQV Level 2...
