Bought a friend a simulator riding lesson for her birthday a while back. She wanted lessons to improve riding and boost confidence. She highly recommended it because she said you can focus just on you instead of all the other factors involved when riding a real horse.
Time and lots and lots of positive post coming off experiences, re-establishing within yourself that you ARE competent and able. confidence comes from self belief.
Isn't it lovely. The person cantering through the woods .... it moves me every time I see it! Meant to add, I used to have a video - yes, the old VHS - of the making of the Lloyds bank advert, the one with the horse on the beach. They actually used two horses, and one had to have his white socks...
With plenty of determination, experienced advice and support, and so long as your friend goes into owning a 3 year old with their eyes wide open, it shouldn't be disregarded. As other poster's have said, owning and producing a young horse can be incredibly rewarding, especially in the long term...
So sorry to hear you're having a bad time of it. It's such a shame when you hear of these things happening. Beats me why people can't just enjoy their own horses and be positive and encouraging to others. If you don't want to leave your yard or stand up to the 'yard gang', why not use the forum...

Turned two out this morning and they went berserk in the field, spooking at nothing, snorting and carrying on as though something was lurking in the trees. Continued while I was stood at...
Personally, to save a lot of time, potential expense and aggro, I'd pay up and go. In my mind though, the issue of age is irrelevant. If the yard owner wasn't up to the job physically, or able to rely on someone else to fulfil the role, they shouldn't have been offering and accepting payment for...
Sorry to hear about your frightening experience. I once had a near miss with a bus from a well known company. Driver couldn't see it upon himself to wait to overtake a parked car on his side of the road. It was on a narrow country lane and the idiot swung right out in front of me and my horse...
I am a hacker AND motorcyclist and I just can't understand the mentality of people who would 'speed up' rather than slow down or stop when approaching a horse. What were they thinking???? Regarding the camera, I have just purchased a Muvi to take on our up and coming motorbike trip. Similar to a...
