I agree with the post above, the closer you live to Cheshire, the more options you'll have, certainly for full livery. I stabled my horse at Dairy House Farm (Altrincham) when I was living in Manchester and there's at least 4 other yards offering various livery packages in that area. The hacking...
Just jumping onto this post, I'm moving house to the St Helens area and wondering which places nearby have the best hacking available? I don't mind some roadwork, but would ideally like some decent off-road routes available without having to box up. Don't mind commuting a bit further each day...
Oh, don't worry at all, I didn't take it that you were being funny with me in any sense, apologies if it came across that way! I just realised that I might have painted a more simplistic and easy picture in my first post and wanted to highlight the various barriers that I came across when trying...
Sadly the sentence you've highlighted is only reflective of the VERY abridged version, as I was trying to just provide the highlights  I had to push very strongly for the surgery and it was only when the sensation loss and function in my foot deteriorated to the point where I...
I had an L5/S1 discectomy in 2017. Id previously been receiving epidural steroid injections and twice weekly physiotherapy sessions over 18 months in order to treat the disc prolapse, along with Gabapentin and various pain medications. It got to the point where the pain meds weren't even...
Sorry to hear you've had similar issues, but thanks for sharing. It sounds as though vet cover isn't going to be worth it. I'll compare the BHS and Harry Hall covers - thank you!
Thanks for the input Ester. I'm in a fortunate position where I could pull together the funds if required in an emergency, it's just trying to weigh up whether i'd kick myself for being £4-5k out of pocket for something that might have been covered by insurance. But it seems unlikely given how...
Hi all, after some opinions on whether/to what degree to insure, i'll try to keep it brief. My 11yo Cob X has been investigated for various issues over the past 6 years, respiratory (initially thought to be early COPD, but was just the lingering after-effects of a virus), back and lameness...
I'd second this. My chap is schooled at home and hacked alone in a lozenge snaffle. For fast group hacks and fun rides, I find a kimblewick or mullen mouth pelham gives more control without any arguments.
How does he evade the contact when he’s being strong? My Cob X had a tendency to raise his head and tank, so a Mullen mouth Pelham or slotted kimblewick work well for faster/excitable work. My friend’s Section D however leans downwards, heavily on the bit to evade, so she found a Waterford Gag...
