Spoke to vet last night. She doesnt think it has anything to do with his hind leg (one which had surgery for the PSD) she thinks either a bruised sole or think soles and where the paddock is a bit frozen and hard and bumpy thats probably what it is as he was fine out hacking on roads and does...
I have put a call into the vet so hoping to get a call back today.
It only happened this year so has not been a long long time that he has had an issue with that leg....
I think like you said with the cold weather and very hard ground we have at the moment he is probably really feeling...
If he is 19 and has been jumped a lot of his life perhaps he has had enough? Maybe the girl that has him on loan jumps him quite a bit and he may have got bored?
If there is nothing obviously wrong with him I would say give him a few weeks off jumping go hacking and nothing too strenuous and...
Hi,
Some of you may remember my boy did his suspensory in March this year had the surgery to cut the nerve and 8 weeks later we were walking and hacking etc. Since August he has been back in full work and going very very well. Sometimes to start with he can be a bit nappy but after 5/10 mins...
Thanks - I think I worry too much and look on the internet too much and worry is its a hairline fracture!! He is totally sound. when I touch it or hold a cold pack against it he takes no notice and he is one sensitve horse! :)
Hi - my TB came in with a bit of a swollen knee about 3 weeks ago. not really any heat at all. Went down a bit. Not lame in the slightest. Vet was down to check something else and didnt mention it at all. Its gone back up to what it was before (not massively swollen but bigger than the other one...
My boy was very underweight when I got him TBXWB. And lost more moving yards.
I upped the hay and gave hayledge as well as hay. He was eating as much as poss.
I also then didnt up his feeds but I added Top Spec Feed Balancer and this is when I really started to notice the difference. His...
Hi,
Very sorry to hear this. My horse had the surgery a few months back. After the 8 weeks of rest took him back to vets who said he looked great and she was very pleased with the results. 4 weeks of walking and start to trot and notice he is still slightly dragging the hind toe. Vet came...
Very interesting. My horse had the op 3 and a half months ago and now looks no different to how he was before. Very annoyed as I went up the vets after 8 weeks rest etc and she said he was absolutely fine and she was very pleased with the results. I was not convinced as he was still knocking his...
Thanks for your reply.
Interesting that you say there was a further check up after 8 weeks of work. This has not been mentioned at all by my vet. She just said build him up slowly over the next 4-6 weeks and then he should be good to return to full work slowly.
did yours have the...
Hi All,
Thought it might be nice to update you after my boy did his suspensory ligament in 3 months ago. I opted straight for the operation nuerectomy fasciotomy (sp). He had 2 weeks solid box rest - then 2 weeks in a small pen (was supposed to be 4) but he was getting way too stressed out so...
Thanks everyone for your replies. I really appreciate it.
Thank fully! That has been his only outburst. After speaking to my vet she agreed to turn him out throughout the night with the old field ponies (even though its a big field) because he has settled and just wants to eat. Now he comes...
As some of you may remember my boy had an op for his pulled suspensory ligament.
The instructions from the vet were. 2 weeks STRICT box rest. Then another 5 weeks being out throughout the day in a paddock no bigger than 4 stables.
2 weeks strict box rest. Perfect. 2 weeks in the paddock and...
VET VET VET!!!!
My horse TBXWarmblood - everyone at my yard thought I was mad when I kept saying he just isn't right. He was not even lame but every now and then would clip his right hind toe. Everyone told me I was mad to take him up the vets but I did and they said after a few tests they...
