I have a 2011 floriscount filly - temprament wise she is smart, calm & bold and is a nice person. She is quite refined in type though doesnt have particularly long legs and is quite deep bodied - though she would take both of the last 2 things from her dam. She is built uphill though not...
I have a rising 2yo (june) who i measured at the weekend there - she's 14.3 3/4hh - I'd love it if she made 16hh but she's so petite in her frame that i suspect i might be lucky.
Have you done the string test which is apparently accurate?
I'm obsessed on height and comparing so happy to see this thread (not often on here!)..... I lost my mare and therefore orphaned filly foal at only 2months old so quite concious she might have taken a hit in terms of growth but comparing against all of these she seems in the normal range!
at...
Thanks for that - apart from SSH there arent (as far as i know) mare gradings in scotland so limits my options slightly. Grading has always puzzled me though in that why bother as she has proven herself already and has a competition history/profile - do understand that for a young unproven mare...
Like you i'd prefer to support a british studbook but I've not been convinced that AES is where i woudl want to register - prob for no other reason that they do seem more geared towards jumpers - as is the SSH. I will start making some phone calls as having email a few and had no reply it...
so two of you both saying AES - must admit hadnt considered them as rightly or wrongly thought of them as mostly a showjumping studbook - i shall go have a look now. Do you now if i need to become a member now to be able to use them to reg a foal next year.
Prob a dumb question but who...
hi all,
A friend suggested i post on here as lots of breeding experts amongst you i believe!
I currently have my retired dressage mare (competed successfully to Inter 1) in foal to Floriscount (due June 2011). I'm pretty green in terms of what i need to do in terms of passporting the foal -...
I woudl seem to be in the minority in terms of being ok with the auction - there are more people upset by the auction than not. However, i stand by what i have written earlier in this thread. I would add that everyones individual view is subjective but what i have reported above is my take on...
I dont have a problem with the pens the horses had room to move around - they were knee deep in straw and had nice haylage.
Yes i woudl put a stallion (or any horse) in those pens - in fact they were of a similar size to temporary stables at most competitions, in fact maybe slightly bigger...
sigh..... arent you being just a touch melodramatic?
That doesnt tie up with my experience of the sale at all. Yes the coloured stallion did over-react to the sedation but would you rather he'd injured himself or someone?
this is an emotive subject but lets keep it in perspective.
Which was the Lingh filly? Lot 19 T Busilus? At the end we walked back through and the mart were moving cattle at the other side which understandably was rattling the horses. This particular filly was closest to the cattle and was quite upset - trying to climb out over her pen. The mart...
The passports i looked at were in relation to the horses i was interested in... i was surprised that they were identity docs only and not breeding papers as such as both had in the catalogue details of 1st or 2nd premiums from SSH. So would have been a fair assumption that these had SSH papers...
I went to the office to look at the papers - most of them had a standard passport with no breeding info and had an irish issuing authority. The ones i looked at had all been issued within the last 6mo or so. Disappointing given the breeding involved. Assume buyers will need to get blood...
