I use to cycle every day before back issues caused too much pain. I always use to thank motorists if I could even by a big nod of my head. Taking your hands off the bars could be a little risky but a cheery wave would be given if I could. Depended on the road surface and how busy the road was...
Wonderful post. I had backed Forest and was in tears when he pulled up. Not due to backing him but for the loss. It can happen anywhere. He looked like he was thoroughly enjoying himself. I send my thoughts and good wishes for what they are worth to all connected with him.
I too was annoyed...
Please replace your hat. Even if it was a soft knock on the ground the foam would of done it's job. You won't know how damaged it is until it doesn't protect the next time (hopefully not). I don't ride anymore but my motorcycle helmet is treated the same way. Even if I just slip and drop it to...
WTF. I think you've had a lucky escape from what sounds like a whack job ! If that is the reaction after you've bent over backwards trying to pacify them and after all only wanting to protect your property imagine the reaction if your trailer had of been stolen and you asked them to replace it ...
Regarding the showing blog, it might just be me, but anyone who still refers to her parent as mummy has issues with growing up. Mum, Mother but please....mummy ! I would be quite happy to have the livery yard, EKW or Hovis being published.
Absolutely brilliant. I was actually counting the times I would of been flat on my back with my partner flying up the gallops without me. Your superglue is the stuff of legends !
It was meant well. I was younger and not so experienced. Wolf was a broken racehorse that I bought to save from the meat market. I use to ride him in his previous home and his personality was so sweet I couldn't bear to see him end like that. In under a week I had done the deal, found the yard...
I've only been lucky enough and rich enough to have had one horse and therefore one yard. Y.O was brilliant and although we did have a couple of difficult clients on the whole everyone got on. I ended up working there on weekends to give her some time off and got a taste of just how hard you had...
It makes all the difference doesn't it. My boy was in such a state when he arrived at his new yard on a Saturday afternoon. My riding instructor kept her horse there and had recommended it to me. Wolf was mud encrusted, untidy and unkept. I just wanted him to settle in and get comfy in his new...
No problem. Frustrating that you have to even negotiate such a thing as security with the yard. You would think someone with a thieving mindset would see a yard with unlocked trailers as an open invitation. In trying to make it easier for themselves your Y.O is painting a target on the yard !
Please don't leave them in the tack room, give them to the yard owner. And ask that they don't leave them on the yard. If thieves break in and use the keys to open the locks and make off with your trailer not sure if your insurance will hold up. My workmate found that out after his motorbike was...
Thoughts are with you honey. The courage it takes to make that decision is huge. Ed looked so happy and content with you in the pics you posted. I am sure he is running free and thanking every lucky star that you found each other. Loads of hugs coming from me and my deeply missed ex racer.
Please EKW never ever stop posting your diaries. They are brilliant. I use to ride out for an owner in Wales on out of training racers and his hunters. So much fun but equally terrifying. Leant more about riding there in 6 months then 6 years of weekly riding lessons. Fear creates a wonderful...
