Taking my horse to our first in hand showing show tomorrow (its only a little local show), we're doing young handler but I want to go in for one more, I just don't know what else I could do. He is a 16.1,chestnut, Selle Français x TB.
Dont really have any good pictures to show his conformation...
I have just bought a new horse and at the moment he is a very healthy weight and looks great, but I have recently found some photos and videos of him back in the summer and he is quite over weight in them. I know that in the summer they are out on the rich grass and they can put on a lot of...
Thank you for your comment it was really helpful, I have rubber matting in my stable already so hopefully if I decide to buy him this will prevent these problems to some extent.
I looking for a new horse for a while now and have found one which seems absolutely perfect for me. The person who is selling him is a well know dealer in my area and is very well though of but he tells me that the horse was previously sold and the owners ruined him and he picked up some bad...
I have had the vet out he gave her a full check over for any obvious problems, and took some blood to check her hormone levels which came back normal, I will also be looking into the possibility that she could have stomach ulcers . The physio has checked her back, there was nothing majorly wrong...
Thank you for your comment, she has not ben ridden since I posted this thread and will be out of work until the problem has been solved and me and another more experienced handler are the only people who she is ever handled by :)
Yes I agree that is what we are in the process of doing.Tack has been checked by two different people nothing wrong there, teeth have been checked, hormone levels have been checked also. The only thing left to do is test for ulcers which is what i think is most likely the problem.
I have a very dominant mare, she has always been very stubborn when it comes to things she doesn't really feel like doing but recently she has got really bad. When I ride her she is generally as good as gold but on the ground it is a different story. It all started this year when we changed to...
We did consider that it could be ulcers but at the beginning of summer she suffered with sever colic and was rushed to the Royal Veterinary Collage where she had a full body check over inside and out, if she had ulcers wouldn't they have found them when they did this? But i am defiantly going to...
No I have not tried this and is definitely an option I'm just worried she will not allow me to get on at all after she works out that after I take her out I school her.
When I hack I get on at a block just outside the school and there are usually a group of us going out so she lets me get on no problem knowing she going for a nice relaxing ride, I have tried getting on her with another horse there just some how she knows, i guess its my body language that gives...
She is a Dutch warmblood X connemara and she has already had a full check over by a vet and given the all clear that there are no problems. Today was the first time I have ridden her after giving her just over a two weeks of rest (which she has absolutely loved) and if anything she was worse...
Thanks for your comments. Yes I have a very good instructor, she gave me a technique on how to stop her doing this and it worked for a while and then she worked out a way of getting round it as she does most things. And most of the bad habits did not last more than a week or so as we managed to...
