Do you think horses understand you?

Me and my mare were like this! With my first horse we clicked instantly, but with my mare it took at least a year. She can definitely understand me and she recognises me too. I don't have to call her and she neighs and runs up to the gate for me, but wont do it for anyone else hehe. She knows...

Had a bad past 2 days:(

She was just very out of character and she's very cheeky, she's not ill that often so I could tell straight away. We had to get the vet out and she responded well to it:) But not sure how much the bill is yet haha, but would rather pay then let her suffer!

Had a bad past 2 days:(

Yes she looks a lot better today! To anyone else they probably wouldn't have noticed as she didn't look the slightest bit colicy just a bit sad. Good job I asked the yard owner to keep an eye on her, otherwise it could of got bad!

Had a bad past 2 days:(

    Regaining a horses confidence

Hi, she does not refuse other jumps often, Its just oxers. She has been checked and 100% it is not a physical problem. I agreed with my instructor that a loss of confidence maybe the issue as her mother had the same problem. Her mother fell when jumping a jump and since has not jumped any higher...

    Regaining a horses confidence

Hi, yes we have had her checked over and there are no physical issues with her, I will get her rechecked though just to make sure. I am confidence myself as I am often put on the "problem ponies" or young ones. She happily goes over other jumps its just the back pole that she seems scared of...

    Regaining a horses confidence

Last year around June/July my mare took a confidence hit. Before she would jump anything infront of her! She loved jumping courses and had no issues with the different types of jumps. Suddenly she start refusing to go over jumps or even poles in the end! She was ridden 6 times a week and jumped...
