‘Laser’ light therapy and an X-ray picture

Has anyone bought one of these devices that they thought was helpful? BBPs most recent leg X-ray shows that the broken bone is still remodelling after 4 months, and Vet feels laser/light therapy might be beneficial to speed up the process. I know physios and osteopaths have them but in an ideal world daily treatment is best and daily osteopathy is difficult time wise and will come at a cost . I’m not sure if the lower end cost ones are of any use so looking for recommendations, if it’s worth purchasing one.

And for interest, here’s a piccie if the pony’s leg insides! You can see on the right the splint bone is fractured and missing the ‘button’ at the distal end. The end of the bone is the bump you can see a bit further down near to the cannon bone.

My mare has just had splint removal surgery after a kick fractured it in 3 places. I was advised for her to have the surgery as it was feared chips would sequester and damage other parts. She is now on the 4th week of box rest but the scar has healed nicely, just needs daily bandaging to keep the swelling down.

I have known 2 who have fractured a splint bone, and both those had the spare bit removed. I think one did have ages trying to fix it in the leg, but in the end they whipped it out.

My Vet is showing no inclination towards surgery yet (horse is very happy in himself and not insured) as she says the body is trying to reabsorb it. Leg is clean and tight and nothing to be felt so we think a fair bit of the lameness now is muscular due to favouring the leg previously and building up an asymmetry.

Mine didn't have surgery (broke splint bone into lots of bits but they stayed in place)

My friend is a physio and she lent me her laser. It healed well. Sorry I don't know about budget options
