I’m really sorry your boy is causing you heartache, BBP. You’ve always come across as an incredibly caring and conscientious owner, any horse would be lucky to have you as their person. Hopefully he feels a little better soon x

Thank you for that. I try my best but I look back at all the mistakes I have made and the things that could have helped him way earlier if only I had known more and understood more, and I feel so guilty that I allowed him to be so dysfunctional for so long.

I'm so very sad and feel like a piece of me has been ripped out and is missing.

I've always enjoyed your tales about BBP. He's one of my favorites. I love his character, even if he's bonkers :p

I actually just bought a baby horse ? gives me something to focus on and also a breather (he doesn't need much over the next 2 or so years as far as "work" goes). So I guess buying a baby to keep ourselves going, is definitely a thing ?
I didn’t realise you had bought a baby, that’s exciting! Such a rollercoaster of emotions for you right now, just remember that you are allowed to be excited about the new one even though you are sad about your heart horse.

Literally officially sold mine yesterday, and bought the baby a few hours later. Possibly not the best decision (seems a bit fast), but it all just worked out so smoothly. I'm actually more sad than I am excited, but I think the excitement will switch on once the baby is actually with me. I'm really hoping that we can form a connection some day. I don't know if it'll be anything the one I had with my heart horse, but the baby is also a PRE so the odds that we'll get along are decent.

It is an emotional roller coaster and I have a lot going on right now.

I really hope that BBP is just "bothered" by his herd disturbance, and that he bounces back (maybe literally and figuratively with him? ?). I just love hearing about his antics or seeing photos of him throwing shapes. My PRE was a bit like a dog vs a horse, and BBP reminded me of that when you said that he decided to lay down next to you.

I’m sure you have found an amazing home for him. I have to admit I wasn’t sure about buying a baby, and mine is completely not what I wanted, but I think he may be just what I needed. And I am way more attached to him than I expected to be at this stage. He is very different to BBP but in a good way, in that he seems to have all his screws firmly tightened vs BBP who clearly has a screw loose but is beautifully sensitive too. Having nearly lost the baby in January, it showed me how attached I was really early on.
