How big do you think Pixie will make? She is about 13.2hh now and approximately 12 months old.

Any ideas?

How big are her parents?

I have a Quarab yearling about the same height and guess that she'll make approximately 14.2-15h going purely on parents size. (Dam 14h, Sire 15h)

We don't know her breeding, we got her from a market in a very poor condition, her passport doesn't have any details about her parents on it

We are guessing her age as well as again it wasn't stated on her passport!

they usually say another hand from yearling to 2 year old and then plus another hand to full maturity so maybe about 15.2hh

I've heard this too, I was also going to say around 15.2 but it depends on when she was actually born, as her history is unknown she could have been born april 08, which would make her now over 12 months old and therefore more likely to be smaller than 15.2.

She was definitely a late foal (I just don't know how late!), she was tiny and in very poor condition when she came to me.

My mare was about that size at that age. She's 10 now and finished at exactly 15.1 hands. Her sire was 16.3 and her dam 15.3. Her full brother made 14.3! So parental size doesn't always indicate final size.

The above mare has produced one foal, a filly by a 16.2 stallion. He usually throws stock making aroung 16.0 - so not overly big. However, the filly was 14.3 at 1 year, and is now 16.0 at 2 and 3 months old. She's going to be taller than both her dam and sire by the looks of it.

I think it's safest to guestimate adult height by the height your filly is standing at now. I'd say at smallest 15.0 hands, up to 15.2 tallest.

She's looking great, so you've obviously done a great job bringing her back into condition after buying her in a poor condition. She looks a lot like a yearling filly I bought a few years ago. She was a flaxen chestnut too, and looked almost identical in conformation and head. She was the same size too. She was Welsh D x IDxTB. I sold her to a person in Holland at 18 months old, so don't know her final height unfortunately.

I'll be happy if she makes 14.2hh even happier if she makes over 15hh, the bigger the better

Well, I think you'll be happy no matter what then, because she's very unlikely to stop at 14.1!!
