A lot of what I have learned over the years has been taught to me by old horsemen. A lot of remedies I still use and swear by, at a fraction of the cost and twice as effective. Some of the techniques I'm pleased to say have died out. I was nervous when taking my horse to livery years ago at the hunt secretary's that he fed only oats in quite large quantities and ad lib hay when hunting, especially when I had a very fizzy horse in the first place. In the ten years we were with him my horse was never sick or sorry and possibly less fizzy than he was before. When he visits me now he is amazed at the range of feed I use!
