It's been pouring rain all night here, I couldn't help but think of you guys over there. Hopefully you are both safe and the horses as well! We over East know all too well how that feels :(

Hopefully just getting out and riding this weekend, it's very wet and muddy though. Perhaps a lot of tack cleaning in my future! Have a great weekend all!

We had lots of lovely rain and the fire is officially out! such a relief for all though now there is more hard work to be done. It is amazing how the community comes together to support those in need!

Phew, so pleased AE. Hope you manage to get things back to normal as much as possible soon.

We seem to be on an upward trajectory at the moment. I cannot really express my relief, it's been such a worrying time while she's been SO negative. But over the course of the last week Kira has progressed from agreeing to be ridden on a long rein, to agreeing to be more or less on the bit in walk trot and canter, and today we bashed out some 2 tempis just to see, which she also agreed to ?

Slowly slowly ? hopefully be back in proper work soon ??? been a long time! Thoroughly grateful to have the use of this indoor so at least we can stick on my schedule and not be battling the weather ☺

Rose is back in work following her HA hock injections last Wednesday. she had four days of box rest with hand walking twice a day for four days. I think she really appreciated her walk out area but she was pretty lively by day four!. The first day back at work she was turbo charged despite S giving her an easy relaxed stretchy session (I was so glad I was watching rather than riding!) she was hacked out the next day and she was an angel, forward going but sensible and yesterday she did a stretchy session in the school in all three gaits. TBH she looked great and both S and I felt she was looser behind and had more natural lift. She never looked unsound but it is a lesson to me that horses have a great ability to compensate and I now realise that she was tending to load her near fore to take pressure off her off hind which was a bit sore hence she was finding it hard to take her weight equally behind. Her hock x rays 2 years ago were clear and the excellent vet does not think there is a huge problem but I think HA injections will be a regular feature of her maintenance, not cheap but potentially preventative. He's suggested I do regular back lifts and carrot stretches with her also pole work to strengthen her core. He was very complimentary about her overall body condition and strength particularly for a horse that had had a very long period out of work. Anyway, like with any horse, we'll take it day by day and week by week with fingers and toes crossed.

Thats largely positive. I got in touch with Dan Wain following our Tom Beech appointment (on Tom's recommendation), he asked for videos of our work and stills of Charlie stood up and for a one off £20 hes given me a lot more direction in terms of work that we can do to improve Charlie's core engagement and lift his sacrum - carrot stretches, some in hand work, some ridden. Might be worth dropping him a message
