Ooh, I have rescheduled SJ clinic (was originally to be the day after that Friday storm). Fab trainer, am hoping B is attentive and not the eejit boingy hacking Fuzzy that I rode this morning!
Also hoping he sees some improvement since I last had a session with him 2 years ago!
Good luck to those competing and whatever you do, have fun!

Having done nothing for weeks I am all go on Saturday - will go off BS in the morning just doing 90/100 so nice and easy hopefully and then have a team quest dr test at a local venue down the road which is 7 mins away. I was going to swap the horses for TQ but the bay is often naughty and not fair to my other team members because she hasn’t had much work for a few weeks whereas her sister is much more consistent.

Flat lesson for us to go through the dressage for Aston. We were meant to be having a lesson at a local cross country course but my trainer say it’s likely to be very boggy on Saturday so rescheduling that. The next few weekends are going to be busy for us as it’s only 5 weeks until Aston and I’m nervous!!!

Lesson yesterday was a bit hit and miss. Some nice bits but the wheels fell off at the end as we tried a few test movements - got a bit tense and on the forehand and I struggled to fix it. Think we were both a bit overcooked by then ! Not terrible, just not as good as it has been.

Off to tweseldown xc for course hire Saturday. I understand it’s sand so hopefully the ground will be ok. First xc for a while so he might find it a wee bit exciting but I’m hoping we can both keep it together !

No Official Plans but more getting-to-know-you with new pony Quiz and some more low key skool for Frank. Can't do anything in the week with him really because the arena is busy so we will see if he remembers last weekend's lessons :)

Very importantly, Q needs to learn how to pose to have his photo taken!! he's either 2mm from my face or walking off :p

He is sweet, if slightly neurotic :p he's on loan, hopefully a long term thing as I'm quite keen on him already. He is 8, absurdly well bred for dressage - a much nicer horse than i could have paid for. His owner has had him since he was a tiddler but feels he's not the right horse for her. Does not want to sell him. He's had spells of being ridden by other people but been off work since last year. He's a nice chap but quite sharp and a bit prone to winding himself up. I would say his basics aren't really established but he's very capable. I am pretty confident that his knots will unravel with some consistent work and I'm looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together :)

Sounds like a nice project and he’s done well finding you to come to, I hope you have lots of fun with him

Here’s Bog and I attempting to be dressagey in our lesson tonight. Even donned a white saddlecloth! Going to try and get to the gallops tomorrow I’ve given up hacking for now it’s too wet. Bog is busy and much nicer for it ?

My fab instructor says I need to be less hunty ?

Intrigued as to what it means to be less hunty? ?. You look pretty dressagey to me there!

Well that’s not how it starts my stirrups we’re significantly lengthened in that video and my position completely changed. And usually I’ve got some sort of hunty riding attire (like a check long sleeved top) on inc breastplate and Bog and I just want to canter around in a two point ?. Oh and my tack and horse are usually filthy but this time they were clean!

Gah!! Just as I managed to find a way to 'create' a new training and competing budget (I have taken on a couple of small additional bits of work) I am now thinking I should be actually saving that money for the inevitable inflation related horse costs :( I will take a raincheck on this weekend's flatwork lesson and hack instead but then need to try to work out a balance of saving and spending lol! I am sure I can do a bit of both but need to get teeth and jabs done this week so probably hacking this weekend. Senior horse had his shoes off a week or so ago and is seemingly quite happy building up his road work which is lovely. Not sure what to do with Alw - she was shod for the winter so we could keep going with stuff and she has learnt loads but I do want shoes off for a period if possible even though that may slow up some activities.

That sounds horribly familiar!! The last jumping clinic I attended (a few weeks ago) the instructor found herself faced with a number of us in that state. She got us sorted though lol. :)

Ha I’ve done it the other way round, just getting ready to show now so will have had 4.5 months out of them. Keeps me sane ? Have you got some decent booties?

I've gone in to full apocageddon mode instead and am spending like there's no tomoroow on the basis there might not be. If need be I can look to pick up some extra work somehow
