I took ages to find my 3.5t as they all seemed to be stallion layout. Lots of research suggests this is safest but I can't get my head around them having nothing to support the front should there be an abrupt stop. You can get bogged down in what is best, and as you do the price jumps up! My must-haves were good reputation of builder (there are cowboys out there), separate groom area and emergency back door exit. I've now got a second hand ALX which has been good so far - it has external tack lockers which create a shelf in front of the horse but there's a door so I can access the horse quickly. There's a short breast bar between the two tack lockers which will collapse under a certain weight (and there's a hammer to knock this down if needed) so I think it's a safe option. There's a tiny 'bed' in the luton and the groom area is just a bench and cupboard. So many I looked at had a kitchen and bed in the back but when you checked the payload you realised you'd be pushed to travel a hamster in it! Remember, the more stuff in the box, the less horse that can fit.

It's fine for you not to understand or agree 😀

Mine is LWB too; if you look my bulkhead is further back than usual by about 20 inches which gives me a bench behind cab seats.
This means I can sleep 2 people easily in my lorry, rather than only 1 in the living, which is important to me.

I like having lots of room in the horse area, as I have very big horses I take out alone.
When tacking up and studding up inside the box, I like as much room around me as possible.
Mine are cross tied so I don't have any issues of them running backwards and forwards, that seems an odd thing to do anyway tbh!

Well if you said you had a crew cab in the first place it would have been obvious what was going on. You have chosen to shift living space back towards the cab.

I could sleep 3 in mine. 2 (tight) in the Luton and one in the living.

@ycbm it's not a crew cab actually, it's not that big, just the 2 proper seats in the cab.

I thought it was obvious from the drawing I took from Bloomfields website in my initial post but praps not 😀
