3 ponies and on social benefits!

Agree with Tormenta, I think most of us would rather have perfect sight than claim benefits. The 12 year old girl will certainly have more wrong with her than poor eyesight that can be easily corrected with glasses. It is more than likely that she is registered as partialy sighted, quite possibly with a degenerative condition, if she is in receipt of DLA. If this girl paying for a horse makes you sick, how sick will you feel when she is an adult, is unable to drive, quite possibly unable to ride any longer. I feel it is dreadful to judge on such little information and to comment on the lifestyle of some-one you know so little about. :(

I agree, some people do exploit the system, even politians do, and they are who WE elect to run the country for us. No life isn't fair and some people seem to accumilate more than others in dubious ways, but they do say most millionaires commit a crime to get rich. This system your so annoyed with is there for a reason, good or bad, it does help those that need it. No it isn't perfect, but what or who is. Certainly not you that's for sure. Yes we struggle for our little luxuries, while some manage to avoid it, but not all foreigners are scroungers. Not everyone claiming benefits uses it to buy a BMW, some actually use it to survive. And if some can manage their money well enough to buy and keep a horse who are you to judge? What if they decide to buy a car, or own a dog? Or have kids that want to go swimming? Shouldn't they be allowed to do that to? People make sacrifices for things sometimes, such as if you want to go on holiday, you save. So you're not happy about this individual having 3 ponies, then report them. Don't start getting jealous and putting everyones back up when you don't know their situatuation. You obviously have way to much time on your hands, why not get a proper job so you can afford to buy 3 more ponies, then you can shut the hell up.

seriously?! so if someone's on JSA at the very most they could get about £65 a week, their money organisation must be amazing to afford a horse or a BMW or go on holiday.. £9 a day really doesn't stretch to horses and fancy cars!! and if it does they should get a job teaching others to make their £9 a day stretch that far!

and the benefits system really doesn't help everyone who is in need!

I just dont get why she will need this much money at that age? I mean they get nhs lifts to school etc why do they also need this extra money?
 
Why is it causing problems though? If I thought someone was unfairly or fraudulently receiving benefits I would report them along with the rest of the parents who are 'bothered'. I certainly would not let it affect my life to the extent where I was feeling resentful towards a 12 year old child, surely her parents and medical practitioner were originally the ones who thought she could qualify for disability? Not her herself.

What concerns me is the mentality at times towards people on benefits/disability etc who may have come upon hard times/are entitled to disability and either need respite until they recover from an illness/find new employment/die??? Who have probably paid fairly and squarely into the UK tax system for many years or most of their lives and are frowned upon by some members of society because of the scroungers.

I have one living next door to me who annoys me, he has never worked, is now 26 years old, just produced another child with his live in girlfriend, smokes fags and weed, drinks and nothing is done about it, even when he is reported because as he once quite proudly announced to me he just fills in s***e on his jobseekers booklet to say he has been looking for employment. He has been reported by me and others but hey ho, he can continue to do what he does.

It is people like him who cause this attitude and resentment and I do understand it but the object of your resentment is 12 years old.
 
No i dont resent her atall i really shouldnt have put it the way i did. Her parents dont work and i just dont get why a kid need benefits? When shes 18 and has to support herself then yes but not yet surely?
 
had to say something for starters Ive been on benefit when i split from my ex of 6 yrs was left a single mother and had no job and money you get you cannot live off willy nilly however it can be done to own 1 horse as ive done it myself (had horse for over 5 years before) and i struggled and he was on grass (my dads land so no livery charge) and i struggled. However if they are self employed they are not entitled to benefits except disability there for will not get housing benefit.

as to the 12 year old how do u know shes on £350?? the guardian receives a carer allowance for the child to spend on the child's needs, its not the child's fault is it? how would you feel if for example you became like her you would still want to keep your horse. I've worked with the RDA and the rewards a horse can give to disabled children is magical and is used as a therapy for them Ive seen aggressive disabled (not there fault) children become kittens because of this 4 legged friend!

don't tarnish everyone with same brush some are on benefit to pi** the system yes! but some are on there because they have no other choice. Unless you have been in a situation your self you will not understand for the record i worked before and after my benefit days was on it as had no other means but that's a long story

this post had gone off topic if this person is doing what you have said report them if there legit they have nothing to hide and if they ain't then the social will take the steps necessary to get a conviction against them

This post just shows how little you know about the system. This child certainly does not get NHS lifts to school. The NHS does not provide school transport under any circumstances. Some children, who are quite seriously disabled, are provided with transport to school out of the local authority education budget. I can assure you that if this girl is eligible for transport to school, she has a serious condition which affects her quality of life, not one which merely causes her to wear glasses.
Can I suggest that you keep your bigoted opinions to yourself until you actually learn some facts?
 
It was just what they told me. I feel bad fr my post now and i will try get it removed. I just gets me down abit as im trying to keep a house car horse etc and i work all i can and i just dont understand why a kid needs benefits.
Shouldn't have opened my mouth as iv just been shot down. Could have put things better but after a bad day few glasses of wine things come out wrong. Sorry iv offend a few of you
 
I work two jobs - one very good quite well paid job and another 2nd job to top my salary up for clothes, hair and going out - probably totals around 60 hours a week. Although I could afford livery/feed etc I have no garrentees I could pay vets bills etc so I dont have my own horse.

What people can afford and choose to spend there money on is there choice but does sometimes baffle me. Like my housemate always says she has no money, eats my food uses my shampoo etc but then goes on holiday and buys clothes or tells me shes getting a boob job. Never seen her buy any food except bread and jam in the 4 months shes lived with me. It bloody winds me up as it does my foreign neighbours that dont work sit at home all day make noise all through the night have food shopping delivered to them at home so they never leave the house even for food and are on the waiting list for a council house.

However what we dont know about these people is they may have credit card bills coming out there ears and at some point it catches up with them - or infact they may evening have inheritance, savings etc. My point is the only people that know about someones circumstances is them.

And yes you can work up to 16 hours a week but Im sure there is a limit on how much you can earn with that when claiming disability allowance / ready for work help which I believe this then stops at a certain point when someone has remained in work for a certain period of time. We did have a corker at work though with someone on long term sick/claiming DDA due to a bad back who was then shown on the bbc getting on and off a canal boat and doing the locks :rolleyes:

think whole benefit discussion is raw do or don't like marmite for most people unless you have lived it you wont fully understand it, and yes allot defraud the system but there are genuine people out there as well
 
Someone OH's family knows really irritates everyone - I am quite surprised no one has called the line yet.

The woman is divorced and claims benefit as she is a single mum when in fact, she is living with a man (not marrying him because of the benefits) who earns close to £200k a year - on paper, he is a "lodger" and even pays her rent. Her daughter attended a private school.

She owns up to 9 properties on buy to let and yet she claims benefits and tries to get as many freebies as she can. Her daughter had a huge 18th birthday and got a brand new sports car, etc.

Drives me nuts... that us hard working people have paid for their plush lifestyle.
 
Has she told you she gets housing? As if she is on DLA she would get that even if her partner works.

But she shouldn't get housing, not full housing benefit anyways.

Maybe his business isn't making any money??

I woukd suggest you mind your own business as long as the horses are well looked after. thats the main thing isnt it???! is your lives so sad to worry about other peoples income and how they get it....Live and let live I say....I am currently unemployed but am starting work on a stud very soon and my horse is extremely well looked after - perhaps too much!!!

And exactly what are you implying that because he runs his own business and lives in a council house. He could live in a caravan and it wouldn't be any of your business.

Sorry but I think you sound like a judgemental, green eyed snob. If they horses are being properly looked after and maintained then all fairness to them and what business is it of yours is beyond me. Maybe you should get a bit of life experience and understand that people from across the board live in 'council housing' before you go making statements like that.
