I know they come when they are ready but i really dont know how much longer i can sleep in the lorry and wake up to check her everyhour.

her belly has dropped (she was carrying the foal up in her rib cage) her back end is very squishy and she has had a relaxed bottom since day 342.

Why isnt she foaling

Any other signs i can look for or to encourage her to foal.

Am starting to pull my hair out due to sleep deprivation

Thanks

Relax. It'll probably be a little colt if she's going that far over, and we all know how lazy little boys can be! Mare will foal when she is ready - just be sure that you are as unobtrusive as possible during the night.
Fit the stable with a red light bulb to observe without disturbing her and be as quiet as a mouse! Sometimes a curtain hung over the door can help a mare think she is safe and undisturbed and it doesn't make a clunky noise when you move it away to peek!

Even better, pop down to your local lidl's or aldi who often have security cameras dead cheap (around £25) which you can hook up and watch on a tv monitor nearby.

One of my mares went a whopping 53 days overdue last year. Not what you want to hear right now I know, but one of the things the vet advised me to do was to take her for a brisk walk everday.
I was also told to give her raspberry leaves, a traditional remedy apparantly which helps bring on birthing. Luckily there's a pick you own farm just down the road! I made them into a tea and poured it over her feed.

If I think of anything else, I'll let you know. Hang in there though! All sleeplessness will be forgotten when foalie is here

thanks Simsar really want a little filly.

Going to try the raspberry leaf tea.

I have a infra red camera in teh stable so am not disturbing her at all except to walk across yard to turn on camera.
She is turned out all day from 6 am until at least 4om usually until about 6 pm at night have been threatening her with being ridden if she doesnt pop it out soon but she misses the work so much i dont think it is working!!

thanks just gotta keep waiting i guess

Little madam is just laughing at me i am sure.
Keeping everything crossed for next few days.

I did think about taking a night off from sleeping up there and trying to persuade a friend to instead maybe that would do it, shes a smart little fox think i need to outsmart her into poppingout the little one.

Just been watching video of stallion and now really excited

Mmmn my mare was laughing at me she's a real noisy sleeper so the last week I went out only to find her snoring her head off she looked at me everytime as if to say "yeah I'm still here whats up"
So hopefully things will happen soon for you, do you have signs that things are on the move?? Mine dripped for two days giving the game away but then foalie had to have a plasma transfusion but alls well now...

Keep us updated hope to see a *announcing* post soon
