A little horse, I don't think I'm allowed to describe, was sold by someone I know to a dealer.
It is a problem horse, but we did a lot of work on it and it did show signs of improvement! Unfortunatly, time/funds ran out.
Dealer accepted it was problem and accepted it needed work.
A couple of months later, friend gets a call from a very worried father whose children have just nearly been killed by horse. Apparently it was sold as ideal second pony. The advert turned up and horse is definitely doped, and possibly hobbled.
Told Father that he wouldn't be able to reschool it, so it needed to go.
Fast forward to last week and another call. Horse now on other side of country. Horse has now had 6 homes in 6 months, and is still in dire need of reschooling. New owner isn't clued up on how to do this, as once again it was sold as an ideal second horse.
Now okay, perhaps it shouldn't have left here alive, but it is a nice horse, just needs work. How on earth people can judge the poor thing when it has barely spent a month in each home is beyond me.
And the scruples behind the fact it is STILL being sold as an ideal second pony, when it needs to be sold as a project horse...
I'm so cross/upset/guilty. I, personally, love that horse. It is fun, responds well and has potential, if only it ends up in the right hands. But because people are so happy to dope it up, it's going to end up slaughtered.
I know, it's a fact of life, but how can these people sleep at night?
