is bought in July 2006, it has been winning unaff dressage with high 60%s, been drag hunting lots and is a solid, 9 year old good looking irish horse.
Said horse needs constant exercise because he can be very hot headed and cheeky if not worked. He is absolutely NOT anyones ride and it takes time to gel with him. Owner decides she cannot have him for another winter because she cannot ride in the week.
Because horse is not straight forward she is happy to get back what she bought him for. One of the hunt staff had him for a couple of weeks earlier in the year to try (at a price tag of £4500) and she sent him back saying he was not the horse for the job of whipping in/field mastering.
Fast forward to now, horse has been hunting 3 times, all of a sudden, I am told this morning, that "if he goes out twice a week for the next month he can be sold for £8k"...
PLEASE save me
I laughed and said no way, not a lot is selling and although he IS a good hunter he isn't an £8k horse, maybe they could get £6k if someone who sees him hunting wants him off the field - he is not easy to *try* at home and is a different horse to the one that hunts. I was then told "You bought P for £6500 and she isn't a patch on X"
I was rather affronted by that TBH, and pointed out that actually she is a better horse - she is younger, sane, you can put anyone on her and they will ALL get something challenging to do (partoow gave her high praise), she is smart, she is not boring, she is an awesome hunter but also a saint to hack and is not quirky AND she is a mare with top class breeding... She may not go and win the Olympics but what price do you put on safety?
Sorry, just needed a bit of a rant really - if the horse in question is worth £8k of anyones money then he would have been sold last year, whilst winning dressage and drag hunting for more than £4200!
Or am I being silly?
