For those who don't know his story, I bought this 14.2hh Connemara chap unseen from Ireland in June. I was sent a few pictures and videos, and then decided to just take a massive risk and have him shipped over.I am happy to say he has made huge improvements (imo!) everything has been so easy with him, he loads and is easy catch etc- does everything you want without question. He is so laid back is unreal! People struggle to believe he is only 5 as nothing phases him, he is so bombproof and even though I've only been riding him 8 weeks he is used to hack out with my friend's hot horse as he is so calm. He had been on the transporter 34 hours when he arrived, this is him the day after- he had been trimmed a little bit over night so he looked scruffier than this when he got here.

And this is a photo taken yesterday,

His schooling was non-existent, he was from a showing yard so although he was broken- he hadn’t been ridden as there was nobody to ride him. He did trot around with his nose well and truly ‘on the horizontal’ ;) No photos of that I’m afraid, everyone was too busy with their numbers on the emergency dial as I rode around on the pony nobody had seen before :D which is quite amusing as he is the calmest pony I’ve ever ridden. Here he is after 2months schooling, he has picked up weight and leg aids now and working well in lateral movements.

Turns out he has a good jump on him too!

I will try and get some videos up of him to show you, my editor isn’t working right now. He’s been out to a couple of shows and didn’teven look at the fillers! Jumped round without touching a pole. J

He looks fantastic! You've done so much with him already. Are you bringing him on to sell or keeping him?

Its a difficult decision but I will unfortunately have to sell him as he's a bit too small for any of us - i'm the shortest out of my family (the others tower over me!) and I feel a bit big on him, plus I already have my coloured who I'm starting to compete more now he's learnt how to jump . I don't mind though as I feel like I've set him up for a nice life over in England to hopefully be someone's pride and joy :) I just wish i'd had a pony like this 5 years ago when I bought my stubborn pain the backside of a mare :D If he was a hand or two bigger he would not be going anywhere.

Of course he's lovely, he's a conne! (Just a little biased....) No way are you too big for him, when he fills out he'll carry anybody!

What a cracking pony! Andd you look about the right size on him? How tall are you?!

I've bought two horses unseen from ireland and both have turned out to be exvellent horses. They were bought from pictures, with a vetting and they're both well bred proven lines with nice temperaments. I'd do it again without hesitation.

I'm 5'5 1/2 .. the half an inch makes all the difference in a family of 5'9+ ;) I've been used to riding a 15.2hh chunky muscle machine so he does feel a lot smaller, but a good size to bring on as if anything goes wrong it's not far to fall ! Although I don't think it's easy to fall off this one, he never spooks or goes faster than you ask him to. He's by Matchmaker's Lad (who appears to be fairly well known in Ireland) but he's not been registered. I've never known an equine with a temperament like his, friendly is an understatement- he loves everyone! he whinnies at walkers going past his field and every time he sees a horse he whickers and tries to make friends :o . It becomes hard to school him because it's tempting to just cuddle him for half an hour instead :D He's still got a lot more filling out to do but the level of jumping and schooling he can do already makes me think he will be amazing once he's got a bit more power. Yes i'd certainly buy again from Ireland but it's so risky, I know some people who've had terrible experiences such as coming over lame, in foal or even the completely wrong horse ! :(

Good advert ....

I did not post this with the intention to advertise him in any way and I expected someone to post a comment such as that above.. I wouldn't have mentioned I was considering selling him if someone hadn't of asked. He will not be advertised for sale for a while yet if I do sell him so thanks for your concern but it was merely an update, just like my updates on my other horse ! I don't feel like I need to use a forum to advertise if it comes to that decision, there are plenty of advertising sites I can use. But thanks everyone for the nice comments :)

No I would be so picky with his home anyway I am not pushing to sell him :) the thought of another horse to clip this winter does give me nightmares though :( I hate clipping! And my coloured has already decided to start changing his coat.. has nobody told him it's still August and over 20 degrees?!

Aw I love him, he's super! Well done you :)

He sounds like a perfect chap (and very like mine in nature). Someone will be very lucky to have such a fun and easy pony! And very handsome too!
