a beautiful day but browsing hho..... why??

Bit sad really. The friend that I was going to go out with this afternoon (had to go to school this morning for an Open Day) lost her horse yesterday! (colic)

It was dreadful! The yard called me out of a meeting yesterday for an 'emergency' - I was a gibbering wreck to think it was H! The secretary was nearly in tears, too. But when I heard it was my friend's male friend and not the YO, I knew what it was (they wanted her home number as they couldn't reach her), so although I knew it was bad news, I was SO relieved.

She has had him since he was a baby (14 now) and I know she will miss him terribly. He has been poorly with all sorts for about a year, so I know he's out of pain now and gone to a better place. But I just couldn't face going up there this afternoon. :(

Oh god, my thoughts go out to your friend. I received that dreaded call in October, my mare who had never suffered colic in her life had a fatal attack of it, just awful, I had her since a 2yr old, she was rising 22 when I lost her, its just bloody awful, really feel for your friend, and I understand you not being able to face going up, its horrid

I harrowed the field after lunch - I love my little MF tractor. :p

I'm glad to say that the youngster was very good, it's the first time that I've not moved the hosrses into a different paddock (since I got him) while I used the tractor. He just copied the older girls and stayed at the hay feeder. :D It's a good job that he didn't copy the grey who started off by following me up and down, up and down etc... then she just played chicken and I actually had to steer around her.

OK - I'm the chicken.

Very jealous of your tractor! I have to bribe my farmer!

Haha, bless. I shoved mine in stables / out the way so as not to bother farmer's son in his little tractor. D would probably have tried to get in with him

It's fab :D I have a topper and boom sprayer for it too, although I'm not brave enough to take it on the steepest part of the hill. :o

I'm not going to mention the riding in the tractor idea to my grey - she doesn't need any encouragement! :p

I have ridden this morning and now I am at Lakeside shopping centre. Just in Spur having a bite to eat then I will shop til I drop! My YO is bringing my Horse in for me later so I won't have to go back up.

did the horses earlier, was hanging around while my field was harrowed. Came home for lunch :p

lol i read that as your 'friend' was harrowed:eek: think all this sun has gone to my head:cool:

I was down the farm by 8.30 to have coffee with the farmer then fed and watered horses while waiting for hubs to try and sort his van out, no luck with van so we got a lift home at 12. for some lunch. took my car back down the farm at 1.30 and very dutifully did poo picking while hubby attacked things with his chainsaw:Dgot so warm i had to take my jumper off:eek: mended some fencing, took down some stock fencing from the alcatraz paddock, fed horses again out their rugs back on (much grumping and scowling on their part) and have just got home for a nice cuppa:)
