UPDATE!

Thanks all for your responses - and they are pretty much my thoughts entirely so...

I am moving. The stars have aligned and an INCREDIBLY rare space at the yard my mare is at has come up so we are off on 1st April. I trust the yard owner implicitly and my mare is SO happy there. Actually all the horses are. It's more money but for peace of mind its 100% worth it.

I'll be offering the 2 people in the field (owner and other lady) the chance to buy the shelter, otherwise it will be being sold. Shame, as a lot went into it but at least it's all sorted and I can leave the inevitable issues behind

Ask your Dad if you can pay him off in installments and retain 100% ownership.

Then start looking for another field and take it with you.

Sounds like it's only going to get worse I'm afraid.

Completely agree.
Things/relationships/deals normally roll along in the same vein they start out.

Within a month of you renting from A, she’s got your looking after her pony and you built a shelter she agreed to pay for, but is now refusing to pay and going against her word.
Actually no, it’s worse, she’s just blatantly ignoring you, now youre asking for her to step up to what was agreed.

Give and take, mutual benefit...all important when dealing with people...but i’m hearing she takes all while you give all.

I personally would look to relocate, as its quite easy to speculate how the new summer pony arrivals will require more of you too.

If she’s a longtime friend, i get it, youre helping out - doesnt excuse ignoring your money request messages though, thats just indecent. But if she’s a stranger, she should be reciprocating your goodwill...not ignoring you.

People can change, but rarely do.

brilliant - so pleased for you and relieved! You sound like a decent sort and should be around folk who appreciate your help, skills and generosity. Good luck with the move! ?
