Don't you hate it when you accidently type 'hore' in stead of horse :o

I would love, love, love some help on this *pleading* :D

Anyway, I have been offered a horse for free, including tack & rugs. I doubt we'll take him, as the OH will refuse to muck out two horses, but we are looking at getting our own place, so it might now be an issue (esp when it comes to doing a masters).

Ok, so.

6yo 16.2hh TB, never raced.
Very very good bloodlines. (Not that I can recite them off the top of my head). Absolutely stunning - a very good looking horse with beautiful uphill conformation. Good strong feet, short strong pasterns. Not a lanky/gangly TB.
Not underweight, but unmuscled, no topline.
Very loveable, sweet and easy to handle in the stable.

Has had a hard life, I was told he would never ever jump and so could only be a dressage horse, but last night in less than half an hour we were cantering over 2ft uprights very happily. I think he just lacks trust and confidence, after being beaten up so badly by crook P2P 'trainer'. Once he knows he's safe and having fun, he's a star. Huge scopey jump.

Hacks out fine, thats all current owner does. Am told he jumps XC fine, but I haven't tried yet.

However, he has mild stringhalt in the back legs at walk, which doesn't show up in trot/canter/jumping. Vet says it's not an issue, and is so mild it's not worth doing the op.

How much?

you say you've been offered him free so just curious as to why you are asking how much? or are you thinking of selling a horse you already have to keep this free one?

Because we have been thinking of getting another (as I mentioned - we are moving and looking at places with land/stables), so I'm uncertain as to whether to take this one, or whether it would be better to look for another one. As with most things in life, it comes down to cost.

Of course I'm not thinking of selling the poor thing. I couldn't handle the guilt.

i`m confused.

You were told he would never jump but were also told he jumps XC fine?!?

Am I reading this wrong and being a numpty.....

Jump SJ poles/wings in the school. She says she has jumped him over rustic fences, but this is in an open "fun" environment, as opposed to a stressy busy school, where he has been badly treated previously.
