A clip that is not so good.

For those saying the clip was done with trimmers without the guards on, this is a clip after such a set up (Liveryman Element):

And Liveryman Harmony on the fine setting:

So scalped yes, but not nicked, un-even or just generally attacked!

Poor thing. I suspect she probably had blunt fine blades and had to push rather than glide the clippers to get them to cut.

It was me who said that it looked like she'd used trimmers with the guard off. Not blaming the trimmers themselves at all; yours look lovely :) just trying to fathom out what she could have possibly used to get such an effect!

Perhaps it WAS a bic razor?? :D

The worst part of this is the money IMO. The pony will get over it and obviously it's not nice and will be sore for a day or so but as someone else has said, £50 is a lot of money for a 16 year old, especially at this time of year.

I understand that a vet sedated so vet fees on top? It's more than just the money or even the appalling clip - the poor owner must be so upset - I would be (and I'm a touch over 16!). I would feel so badly let down trusting a professional and letting that happen. She has to see her pony daily and it must be just so upsetting.
From the professional's FB "My clipping service is going really well having done a variety of clips on different types of horses from tb's to shire x."

Years ago, someone came to clip my two horses. She was an acquaintance but I was going to pay her for her time. She had barely clipped one side of a neck when I saw that her clippers were completely blunt and leaving lines like this. I told her to stop, and went out that afternoon and bought my own clippers. Luckily, she had used medium blades so I went over the clipped area with fine ones and all was ok. So, I think this has been done with blunt blades and a lot of applied pressure. The woman should give the money back and pay for the pony to be re-clipped by a proper professional when there is some hair growth.

There was a vet present and he let this person continue with the clip?? I think my vet would have had a go himself before he let that happen!

I'll have another go at posing the owners statement from Facebook as it should set a better picture.

My personal view amongst over 100 others is that you do not use her clipping service! Lady has been left clipper burnt, bald in areas, sore and unsightly. A refund has been refused unless all posts are removed showing these photos and no apology has been issued.
Her defence is that lady was dangerous, attempting to double barrel you. While lady was swinging her bum round on the 1st attempt, we decided to abandon that day's clipping and wait to get lady sedated and checked out by a mctimoney. lady was treated and the clip that had been done so far was of a more than acceptable standard. lady was then sedated - twice - by a vet to insure she would stand still and not attempt anything at all so she could be clipped safely. lady barely moved and the clipwork - well you can see for yourself.
I've also been asked several times why I didn't stop her long before she finished or at least refuse to pay. I am 16 years old, and was alone toward the end of the clip (the vet and everyone else from the stables had left by then) and I did not wish to engage in a heated discussion with a middle aged woman on my own.
In response to the people asking why I was on my own - I was with a trusted professional with a seemingly good reputation. it was important to lady's health that she got clipped as she was suffering from chronic feather mites which needed treatment.
I've also been ridiculed by the fact the photo's show lady eating hay which a sedated horse shouldn't do as they can choke. these are photo's taken tonight, about 24 hours after the clip. lady wasn't fed for several hours after clipping so don't panic haha.
Finally, thankyou all for understanding, you are welcome to share the photos or re upload them. This post is aimed merely to showcase the work by this "professional" and to hopefully save a few more horses from having this happen to them.
Legal action is being taken against the guilty party.
Thankyou all for reading.

Awful! Poor pony! I'm another one who - if the owner is in my area - would be more than happy to go and tidy the mess up a bit until the hair has regrown enough to do a proper job.
In my opinion, the clipper has used fine blades, possibly overtightened, and forced them through the coat in short 'stabs' rather than long strokes.
The owner says that the mare was heavily sedated, which would make her sweat and the coat harder to get through, but in that case, why was a full clip done? A high Irish or a chaser with the legs out would have been far more sensible!

Oh and Nuget La Poneh, whoever sheared your tup wouldn't be going anywhere near any of my stock, I hope you weren't charged for that shoddy work?!

Poor pony, why hasnt the lady done solid sweeps using the clippers?! looks like shes done about 4 inches then stopped,t hen another 4 inches and then stopped again! Perhaps they could neaten it up abit? If not let the pony have christmas off, rug it up so its not freezing and let it grow back, poor pony :( Ive seen some bad clipping jobs, but this is by far the worst! The lady whos done it should be summensed.

I think its been assumed that the clippers were blunt.

Poor pony, where is the owner/pony perhaps a HHO'er can help out?

I doubt very much an equine business offering clipping services have need for sheep shearers.

Im guessing she arrived at the yard, realised she had the wrong set of blades and set to anyway, not guessing it would be that bad - I have started before with extra fine blades on a pink horse and stopped pretty sharp after a couple of strokes - accidents happen. The clip will grow out, no one is dead, they could have saved their name by not charging!
