Please be kind to her as she's only 9 years old and Oliver's only been backed a few months. Not to mention we've only had him 4 weeks.

Hannah was being taught by her instructor to get him to bend through his body, not his neck, with using her legs and not by her opening the inside rein too far and making him fall in....then using outside rein to hold him out and create outside bend through the neck. It was new to her to be asked to ride in this way and whilst she was learning, she was also trying to teach that to Ollie at the same time.

I'm posting these videos just so you can see the glimpses of promise that there are in his movement (I swoon at his trot). Hannah's confidence is increasing each time she rides him. Her old pony was a very complicated mare to ride. It's not perfect and yes there are mistakes, but she is learning and found yesterday's lesson not only hurt her legs (she was complaining this morning!) but also mashed her brain a little.

Also, we need a new girth. It was her first lesson in the new saddle and the girthing system isn't quite the same as her old one, which meant the girth was a tad too long, which made the saddle flap a little.

What a wonderful little jockey she is. Put's an awful lot of us bigger ones to shame quite frankly.

Love the jaunty hat angle!!!!

Jaunty hat angle.......see other thread about riding hat advice!

The instructor says she rides him so nicely as he's not easy to ride being just broken. He's still finding his mouth and learning the aids...hence why she ends up in the fence a few times if she's not quick enough to sort out his drifting out

You really don't need to make any excuses because Hannah is doing fantastically and I tell you what that pony is going to go far!!!!

And i totally agree about his trot....wow! I really believe in the next few years he's going to get somewhere.

We'll see him in H&H in the near future I think.

*Bounty throws toys out of pram!*
My riding is 100% put to shame by Hannah, and my horses are 100% put to shame by Oliver... Hmmmph!

She's so still and quiet, but effective. Can't believe it's such a short amount of time since she came off Tweenie. And who says that young people and young horses don't mix!?!?

Wow what a great little jockey - how still her lower leg is!!

And thats a fantastic little pony too, going really nicely considering he's only been backed recently.
Once they get the hang of each other they're going to be unstoppable!

Keep us up to date!

Hannah is fantastic! She puts me to shame, her lower leg is so still! What a lovely pair I'm sure they will go far together.
