Going back about 22 years ago when I used to ride my horse out on a Sunday I used to meet a couple of elderly gentleman who where parked up on the side of the road and who used to give my pony Polo's and carrotts. They used to drive out from London to the countryside in their old Mini and have a picnick.
Then all of a sudden I no longer saw them and eventually I heard that one of them had sadly passed away and I did manage to contact the other one and used to write to him and send him Christmas cards. Several years ago the letters and Christmas cards where returned as no longer at this address so eventuall I assumed the worst.
Whenever I passed the spot we used to meet them my horse would always look for them and I often wondered what had happened to him.
This last Sunday my horse started neighing loudly from her field which is unusual for her and I noticed that a car had pulled up outside and an elderly gentleman got out and it was the gentleman that I had lost touch with.
My horse who is now in her late twenties had recognised him after all these many years. He is 95 now and his son had brought him out as a treat.
So we had a very happy reunion.
