8 year old TB ex racer. Incredibly laid back and easy to handle. Easy to load, shoe etc. Very good in the heaviest of traffic. Hacks out alone or in company. Not at all spooky. Works well on the flat and has a scopey jump. Still a bit of a green jumper but will jump anything.

Placed in first two local shows out. Fifth in first one day event with clear cross county (never having done a cross country course before) and dressage scores of sevens and eights. Qualified for UK Showing Premier Riding Club Championships in his first show.

Very willing and quick to learn.

Cribs without coligone and crib ox - but hasnt done at all since he has been on the coligone.

In the region of £1,700 - £2,200 would be about correct. Certainly wouldn't pay more than £2,200.
 
The problem is, with a lot of people who are just looking for a cheapish horse (under £2,500) they are often not willing to pay so much extra for good tack. Obviously you want the tack to go with the horse as it was made for him, but you'll possibly only get a fraction back if you sell separately.

Why not advertise him for something like £3,500 including all tack and rugs and then you can come down a little? Good luck.

Thanks Tia - that's our thinking. He is a gorgeous horse - he is so laid back it's untrue. He is just not right for Jenny. And to be fair we did buy him to bring him on and sell him when we had a bit more money to buy a different type of horse.

TB's are all the rage at the moment, Your problem is that other than some photos you dont have a real record of your horses comp record, e.g. BE results. But a horse of his age. size and what he has done so far would probs go for about £6000, more if he totaly stops the cribbing. Your best bet would be to send him to a yard to sell. they will there take the horse on and school, jump and even compete him if you wished to raise his value before he was sold.

Sorry but I think you are way off the mark. And I think that Nuala may prefer to sell her horse herself and not spend thousands sending him to some second-rate dealer offering her false promises .... but of course I could be wrong.

Tia - you are right. We wouldn't want to send him away. The girls want to look after him and sell him to a home who they know will love him. I would like to get back what we paid plus something for the tack we have bought. We are not desperate to make money on him - although money is always nice) - a good home is important too.
 
No real idea on price but I hope you find a really lovely home for him - he looks & sounds to be a really lovely chap! There's just something about him......! I'm sure someone will fall in love with him, even with the cribbing thing!

I suppose if I saw him advertised, I'd be expecting to pay about 2-2.5k with some tack?
 
When I was horse shopping he would have been just the sort I would have looked at.

I would put him on at £3995 - and let him go for £500 less tops.

Smashing horse, a real all rounder by the sounds of it - and you can't find them for love nor money.

Tack by negotiation.
 
about £3.5 - 4k I would think. Sounds like a lovely allrounder and they're quite hard to find, especially a nice laid back one
 
he sounds lovely and TB's that are non spooky and good to do are worth their weight in gold.

I was told the other day that if Ty wasn't blind in one eye i'd probably get in the region of £2,500 for him now that he's mellowed and good to shoe, box, hack on his own etc.

Your boy has done a little more so I'd go for £3,000 without tack and put 'tack negotiable'

I would say 3000 without tack as he is obviously a very honest chap...no fuss. Mabye advertise him as a prospect eventer. I would probally charge another 500 for all his tack i know you would loose a bit but people probaly wouldnt want to pay more for it.

I would say £3,000 to £3,500 without tack (going off the current market) and then have the option for people to negotiate for the tack. You could always sell that separately.

If he is as laid back as you say, but will jump a xc course, sjs and do a decent dressage test he sounds as though he is a great all rounder and as AmyMay has already said, there are not that many of this type around therefore worth the money you could ask for him.
