Hopefully just out of interest as he's such a super nice horse whom I'm very lucky to have found. Sadly I have a feeling with my new job it will become very differcult to keep him and if don't find a capable competitive rider who might want him then in a few months selling might have to happen.

Anyhow...

16.2HH, 4YO, TB gelding with the perfect temperment; responsive, willing and bold meanwhile gentle and sane. Quick learner and eager to please. Spider is correctly put together with lovely comformation and paces. Very straight forward ride, starting to work consitantly in an outline coming 2nd and 6th in his first dressage competition. Hacking alone and with company. I planned to BSJA Spider but he would make a cracking eventer.

Spiders history off 'racingpost' - As a yearling he went for 24,000 gns, trained by David elsworth, raced six times as a two year old however lost and was sold for 3,200gns as a three year old and turned away.

He is by USA's Zilzal and out of a Slip Anchor mare, Pure.

He's very pretty too

The first thing I thought was why has he got bandages on, so get some pics without them.
The ad reads a bit strangely where it says meanwhile.
What about how he is to clip/box/shoe/catch and in traffic, hacking doesn't say he is traffic proof to me.
he's a nice horse so with a good ridden pic he will attract buyers.
Pricewise? not a clue I'm afraid!

Yes clip/box/shoe/catch etc all good and fine with traffic. Eeek, he's amung a farm so used to schooling next to all the tractors, machinery, bird scareirs etc and rides out next to a quarry so used to there Ramble lorries. He's not the spooky, silly type : )
 
I wonder why youre already thinking about selling him if youve just got him. Where have you advertised locally for a rider - ask locally, farrier, vets etc and people on the circuit. I hope you dont have to sell him on, he could be a cracker. Good luck

Your right he's not got a brillant competition record - He's only four and I personaly think they need there schooling first, I was planning to BSJA him by winter.

i would say about 4/5 k as hes a lovely sort and is doing basic school movements and having been a racer you would hope he would have the been there and seen it attitude and as the few dressage outings have been good i would say if you were to sell him he would be snapped up!
 
easily pick up the same type for 2.8k all day long.....


most TB's off the track/post track are 2 a penny TBH...
 
Er, because thats what I do, I find horses that most people won't touch, have got into the wrong hands and are in that downwards spiral. I guess produce them and find them some cracking homes. Each time I can buy a slightly better quailty horsey and thus slowly working with nicer horses. The only horse I won't sell is Jesse, everybody needs a completely useless, fat, hairy grey tuft

The chestnut was sold because he would not of made a sjer for me maybe with good riding I could of squeased a BN out of him but he's far better off being the leausire/plesure competition horse to the lovely lady I sold him to. At the time I had exams so having one less horse (3 not 4) I'm sure helped me get my A* (and the As, Bs and Cs!) : )

Gah sorry for the easay of my life!!

I was thinking last night, I really don't want it to come to selling Spider, it's silly but he just gives you the most amazing feeling and I get excited at the thought of riding him

Well I think if you paid more than 2.5k for Spider it doesn't really sound like he was a "horse most people won't touch"

Anyway, I would say he's worth about £2/2.5k now. He is a lovely horse, but ex racers are two a penny and he is only just beginning his schooling.
 
I think he's absolutely gorgeous and by no means a typical "2 a penny" ex-racer.

You really should hang on to him as he's going to be something really special.
 
I'd agree with JM07, about £2800 - £3000. I think he is a lovely stamp of a TB, but he isnt very experienced yet, so wouldnt really be worth more than you paid for him.
 
I would say about 2.5k-3k yes he is a lovely horse and yes you are doing a good job with him, however he is not established at all yet and therefore why he is not worth as much.

If say yu got him doing a bit more etc etc then that would obviously change things a lot
