:D

righty ho, i'm out of my moody with HHO. cos i had a little lesson on raff yesterday. i walked, trotted and even did poles... without crying, snotting or spewing.

he was, as always, perfectly behaved. and did his best beach donkey impression to keep me safe.

my knees were gripping, my lower leg flapping. my hands and arms were shaking. and i formed an almost foetal position most of the way round. but i did it. and i am very very glad i did.

:D

now, for the big news. we've got someone coming to see him this evening... she may be interested in loaning him. i had him advertised in a few places, and have had lots of (mainly strange) emails/calls, but in amongst the weeds was one that really stood out. so, i'm feeling a little bit hopeful. whilst i can't bear the thought of him going (and bejeeeezus there are a lot of stories on here of loans going wrong), i know it'll take the pressure off me, and he will LOVE the work and attention. and i'll only let him go if it feels 100% right. and i'm going to get references (girl in question has loaned from some fellow HHOers before...) etc. eeek. exciting? scary? both... :)

wish both me and raff luck this evening, i can't imagine anyone NOT loving him...

ps mini rant - if someone advertises their horse for free share or loan... and it's an excellent opportunity... i don't think sending emails saying nothing except 'can you send me photos of your horse' are a good way of indicating your interest. end of rant :)

fingers crossed for you! Hope all goes well - there are fab loaners out there - like me! I loaned my old horse for 4 years, and my new horse is in the same field, and I still help to look after him now.

YAY glad you had a good ride :D Raff always sounds so lovely I can see why you love him so much :D
Good luck tonight I hope everything works out for you both. You both deserve to have some happyer times now after all you've been through. :)
Let us know how it goes.

good luck.i will agree there are some good loaners.we had a lovley mare for 3 years and adored her as our own and kept in close contact with her owners who saw her regularly.we sent regular updates photos etc.he sounds lovley.

I missed why your confidence had plumetted, was it after Raff broke his leg? If so it may be displaced anxiety about that and be aware that if he is loaned out it may transfer to something else . I hope it works out well for you and him, but please can I suggest that if the anxiety 'spreads' or transfers that you ask your GP for a referral to someone who can maybe help you with this?
All the best with the loan

I care about updates on Raff! Thank goodness you didn't storm off here in a huff :)

Great news on both fronts you and Raff having some onboard time together and Raff and possible new loaner, hope they turn out to be just what you and he are looking for.

I also care about Raff updates. So glad he is much better. I hope it goes well with possible new person.

I laughed at the "almost foetal position" - this is exactly what I do when nervous! However, my new body protector seems to have solved this as I can't curl up anymore!!

Good Luck!

Yeah! For both you and Raff.
You ride just like me by the sound of it!!:D I'm definately a grippy knee person!:o
Hope tonight goes ok. Although I thought you were just looking for a sharer, not a full blown loan to a new home. Good luck anyway. x

Well done for getting back on!

Re loaners... Mmmm would not reccomend but I was a good one and knew that the owner was unable to take her horse back when I needed to give him up so I found some other people who he would be very happy with and organised it all between the three of us and it all worked out well - and I have to say the horse is so much happier now! He and I just really didn't get on at all in any way shape or form!

In the other cases where it went wrong I also took up at least 2 referances, 1 personal and 1 horsey related for both... Anyway...
