Hello guys, just wondered if you could answer these questions as I'm interested to see the variety of answers that come through, I know there are other factors involved but just general:-

What size horse/pony do you have, along with breed/type etc?

What size saddle do you have to ride the above in?

What height are you (I wont be cheeky ask for weight) ?

What dress size are you?

Are you happy with the fit for both the horse and yourself?

Yes very, the saddle fits us both comfortably. I gave my wintec 2000 to a friend because its too narrow for my lad and too short for us both.

17.5 but am upgrading to an 18'' under saddlers instruction because of her long back

Saddles:
All use 17 1/2 devoucoux jump saddle and 17 butet dressage saddle

Me:
5ft 6, dress size 10/12

Saddles fit both me and horse, some extra pads required for some.

My mare is 15.2 HW Irish cob, lots of shire in her
My saddle is a 17" made to measue VSD GP saddle
I am 5'10.5"
I am a size 14 waist and size 16 top (broad shoulders..literally!)

I am happy with our fit as my horses barrel takes up most of my 33" legs ! Despite she herself being short legged.

The fact she can prat about as though I am not even on board tells me she doesn't struggle at all with me, and boy am I GLAD of my long legs when shes being a spooky mare

Horse will happily take an 18" saddle. (very long backed) so when monies permit she will have a new one!

Yes, sadle was fitted by a master saddler who does Olympic event team. Fits us both like a glove!

I have 3 saddles, all are 17 to 17 1/2 inch, one is a Bates so has a changeable gullet, the other two are albion in medium & med wide

I am 5'7 and dress size 10

) and happy with my mare. Not 100% sure with the 16.3 geld though, but only because his saddle came with him & I need to get him looked at in general, now he has changed shape a bit.

I'd prefer an 18" saddle, but the horse is too short in the back to take it. Current one is comfy enough for us both!

ChunkyMonkey25 - Your horse sounds lovely! But I am biased towards anything with a bit of CB in it!

Yes - fitted by Llwynon Saddlery who do a very good job. My friend has same saddle without flair and is nowhere near as comfy!

I only have one dress (evening dress for occasional black tie functions) - no idea what size it is. Waist size 28" in jodhs, 10 1/2 stone.

The dress fits me but won't fit any of my horses!

No seriously:

1. Horse no - will need adjusting as he's had the winter off work. Me - yes.
2. Yes to both.
3. Horse yes. Me no (saddle was bought for my OH, but I've taken over the ride).

Very happy with the fit for myself and for Kia, it is just right for her and isn't too small for me. Will also allow for changes to be made to it as she changes shape (saddler out in 6 months to re-assess)

Happy that we're both comfortable with the saddle (fit checked recently and is OK for him) but if I had the money I'd get a new saddle that fits a bit better (would probably need to be custom made) and perhaps helps with my rubbish position as I don't think my current one does me any favours.
