16hh TB

17 inch

5 foot 6

Dress size 10/12

Yes saddle fits us both perfectly (but saddler is out tomorrow so may think otherwise). I can't jump in it though as it's very deep seated and my bum is too big

Hello guys, just wondered if you could answer these questions as I'm interested to see the variety of answers that come through, I know there are other factors involved but just general:-

What size horse/pony do you have, along with breed/type etc?

A few! But my main one is a 15hh LW Cobx

What size saddle do you have to ride the above in?

17.5" Wide Falcon Event

What height are you (I wont be cheeky ask for weight) ?

5'7

What dress size are you?

8/10

Are you happy with the fit for both the horse and yourself?

Yes, but partly because i dont like big horses but im sure a 16hh would take up my leg perfectly whereas my 15hh is a tad shorter on my leg.

Thank you

We have to use the same saddles whoever is riding: I am 5'6" size 10-12 (but v.long legs) weigh around 10.25 stone. OH is 5'10" and 14.5 stone 36" waist (he describes himself as "fat farmer" build!)
(1)Sol: 17hh ISH type was in Stubben Siefried MSF 18" but it rubbed behind so 18" Ideal Grandee GP with Flair- good fit- but really need more knee roll- both medium to narrow
(2)Jacob: 16.2hh ID x (big cob) wears 18" Lovat & Rickets event saddle. Medium width- this is a saddle that we stored "just in case" when dear F died and which fits J rather well- he was in a lovely Manor Grandee but after 6 months off is too fat for it!
(3)Nod:15hh 17yr old Cob (lightweight sport type- bay bum in avatar) His show saddle is by Mat at Heritage and its perfect! He also has an 18" Origin Grandee VSD for hacking/hunting but its too wide and not enough knee roll and i am using a prolite while i look for another.. May use J's Manor instead..
(4) Dex: 14.3hh lightweight Irish Cob type- dark bay bum in avatar: 18" Stubben Siegfried MSF 32 width (x wide) not a brilliant fit but its ok- still looking for a brown 17.5" Albion K2 jump- he is very hard to fit due to bulging shoulders and saddles roll on him
crazy.gif

(5) io: 16.1hh Appy x ID- ISH build- Very short backed so 17" Manor Grandee Jump saddle- best fit i have found but i keep looking..

I try to go for saddles with flatter seats and deep panels as it allows a lot of adjustment esp on the younger horses. I love the Ideal family of saddles (Ideal also make for Martin Wilkinson. Wychanger,Manor, Origin, Crown, Stirlingshire - many bargains can be found S/H as people dont realise what they have

Are you talking about the saddle, or the rider/horse combination? I LOVE my saddle - it was made-to-measure with a sweeping seat (so mtm for both me and pony). Love the pony, too. I'd marry him, if he were human, lol!
