I just wanted to introduce everyone to my new arrival and also have a place to catalogue his progress.
Just a little bit of background, Mr T is a horse I very nearly bought in November I called to tell the seller I would have him and he had been sold literally 5 mins before I was gutted but as my very wise oh said what is meant to be will be and if your meant to have him you will.
I heard a number of stories about where he was and what he was up to in the following few months and it sounded like they were having a few problems with him.
However at the start of last week I heard that he was looking very poor and the vet wanted to do blood tests to see if there was any underlying issues.
In the meantime with a little negotiation I managed to buy him with the hope that there wasn't any major issues but that was a risk I was willing to take as I knew I had to have him back (heart over head as usual)
So I'd like to introduce you to Mr T he is a 12 year old, 17hh Irish sport horse gelding, in his past he was very talented and has 67 SJ points that he aquired over 18 months over 1m - 1m20. He is a very sweet boy and before I show you a picture I know he has a very long way to go but he is now on a good diet with ad lib hay, good grass and of course lots of tlc.

His bloods came back yesterday and he was diagnosed with anaemia due to a severe worm burden, fortunately the first thing I had done when he got back was worm him so we have already started dealing with this. He has already started to look slightly rounder so I am hopeful everything we have done so far is already having a positive effect.

Raspberry trifle for anyone who has made it this far I didn't realise I could ramble so much

Looks like somewhere in there is a lovely boy ... So pleased he's now in a safe place with good people. Will look forward to his progress, as I'm sure he'll be coming on leaps and bounds from now on.

Poor boy, how lucky that you managed to save him. Looking forward to seeing how you both get on. He's got the kindest face.

Thank goodness you found each other. Good luck with him, I'm in the middle of 'mending' a clydesdale mare I own with similar issues. Look forward to hearing about his progress. Good luck.

Well done you for keeping tabs on him and for taking him on. :)

Des he always stand like that? Heel pain can cause horses to stand with their front legs under them.

I'm sure that you'll get him looking fabulous.

Thanks everyone for your kind words it's very much appreciated. With regards to the comments about his stance no he doesn't normally stand like that. The photos were taken on the first day he came back and he was very weak and struggled to stand on 3 legs when I was looking at his feet so I assume it has something to do with that. He had his feet done yesterday and was as good as gold and he has the vet tomorrow for teeth and a good mot so I will mention it to the vet so he can have a look

He looks lovely. In a few months time you will have a completely different horse. Good luck with him it sounds like he has landed on his feet.

What a beautiful face he has :)

He is lovely and very very lucky to have you in his life now. He'll be right as rain in no time under your care and I can't wait to see regular updates. xxx

So glad you got him back when you did. He has a beautiful face as others have said. Hope you'll both be really happy together.

I just posted about my boy's first year when I saw this. Mr B was in poor condition when I bought him, his feet were dire (taken 9 months to get them right), his legs scabby with mud fever and he was very sore in his neck. He was the same age as yours and had some very good results BD but had no record for 2 years. He'd had a tough year because sadly his owner had a change in circumstances and he'd been turned away. Good luck! I hope your boy turns out to be as lovely as mine is.

Thank you all for your encouragement and kind comments, he's not even been with us a week and he already looks so much better lovely shine to his coat and I swear he puts weight on daily.

Hi sammy,
Is this horse from Boston/lincs area? If so I went to view him advertised as suitable for very much a novice rider, when I got there he looked thin and unhappy. He tripped alot whilst being ridden too :'( which worried me. I haven't ridden for some years and knew his size alone was to much for me as I didn't feel comfy on him (not vecause he misbehaved at all just the height) allthough he was very very well behaved and it broke my heart to leave him there.... my hubbys too he's never ridden in his life but kept promising if we took him he would learn lol! Please let me know as I'd love to know he's in a nice home now 💗

Awwee I know he's not now, ive just looked at a few pics I took whilst there trying him out and he had 3 white socks not 2 :( his ad has been taken off however so I presume he has been re homed now. Funny they had the same name. X

After everyone's lovely replies on my boy from a week ago I just thought you might like to see what a difference a week makes

I know we still have a long way to go but it's very encouraging to see the difference a week makes and all he's had are 2 meals of ready mash extra a day and ad lib hay. We're building up slowly so as not to overload his system but it gives me hope that there isn't anything physically wrong it was purely the worms and lack of food. His coat is a lot shinier than it looks in the pictures he'd just had a nice roll in the school and got a bit dusty :)

He looks better already, its surprising what a bit of TLC and proper feeding does. I'm glad you got him in the end, well done he's lovely.

Hi everyone
Well it has now been a month since the big boy came home and I'm very pleased to report he is feeling like a different horse. He is so much brighter and more intrigued with his surroundings. Unfortunately feeling stronger has led to testing boundaries nothing to naughty just silly things like deciding having your feet picked out is the end of the world and that pulling back and breaking lead ropes is fun. Luckily firm consistency and completely insisting he does everything asked even if it takes 20 mins to achieve seems to be solving this.
He had a Mctimoney visit last Friday and surprisingly was in quite good shaped just a few problems with atlas and poll but all in all very good.
I've started some gentle lunging and have bought him a saddle, due to the muscle atrophy by his withers getting a good fit is going to be difficult I'm thinking sheepskin with shims or even Suber pad to start. So going to get a few options before the saddler comes over. So anyway back to what you probably came to see

Wow he has come on leaps and bounds well done you ! Glad he hasn't got any major issues. He certainly has landed on his hooves :-)
