In these difficult economic times I have been looking for ways to diversify.
With the recent invasion of squirrels in some of our most well known and recognised studs it seems squirrels could be the answer. Could you give me your feedback on the below. He is the first attempt at a low key cloning programme so any feedback, good or bad are welcomed.

That is very interesting. What mares/stallions/does/bucks do you have in mind? I think with the right combination you could have a very nice horsq - do you have a name for this cross?

I like Sqorse?

Are you aiming for SJ, dr or an eventer?
How much TB are you crossing?
How big are they?
Do you think they'll be suitable for children?
Before you start breeding these animals willy nilly, you must think long and hard about their uses.
Or is this the new Labradoodle - Squorsy or Squony?

He has a 'smart' temperament with fluttery 'look at me' eyes. Not sure about increasing the TB as he is VERY fast already. He likes nothing better than going and down trees to get to the bottom of a story. He doesn't look like a pushover so may be more of a Squorsy than a Squony.
Haven't tried sitting on him yet. Worried about the kick back. If anyone would like to try, he is open to offers.

They'll be buggers to bring in if they don't want to be caught though, how are your tree climbing skills?

I have a very long stick.

Maybe you should put up a post for stallion recommendations to see what people think?

He is so unique I was thinking of keeping him entire. What do you think, does he look good enough for your mares?

I think perhaps this is quite simply the outcome of what happens when theiving squirrels live off MY foal feed.
The opening person is just trying to claim they have bred some new beast.
Well I for one am not amused, my vermin problem is now very serious, I incurred a twisted ankle today trying to kill the rotten Rodent/vermin. It is really very very sore.
If you are genuine then perhaps a cross with something with Burgraaf lines could give more substance, is Peppermill at stud this year? Or a shetland for a squony?

I couldn't possibly allow your "creature" on my premises while i still have my "problem" at large. I do feel getting rid of my vermin is of utmost importance, do you realise how obtuse he is, I am starting to feel threatened by his behaviour, and it must be stopped. I woukd be happy to be of service to your creature once I am free.
LOL

It certainly was not our intention to upset any other stud owners. As a one mare breeder I thought it would offer an opportunity to do something to enhance British breeding.
If you think Bergraff lines would help I must bow down to your superior knowledge.
He can't be responsible for thieving your foal feed as he is currently held in a privately owned place where lots of other squirrels visit him so he understands what it is like to look a bit freaky. Let's face it- everyone has to start somewhere even small scale breeders.

Well, you haven't actually upset me, and I certainly didn't mean to belittle you Toffeesmarty as a "one mare breeder" And yes everyone must start somewhere, it just appears your somewhere is really out-there.
I do think you should bow down actually!

You are definitely thinking 'outside the box' there Toffee....I would imagine it would be quite lucrative for you as you would have monopoly of the market in the breed as well as having tabloid newspapers like the sun willing to pay big bucks for tell alls!
