It occurred to me tonight that I had promised to do a quick update on Islay - so here it is - not very exciting I know, but I am absolutely delighted so you get to hear it anyway :p

She took a few days to recover fully after having her remaining teeth taken out, but she is coping with absolutely no problems with having no teeth at all! Don't ask me how, but she eats nearly as quickly as she used to do.... kibble or raw.... She is on 2 meals a day now, at her last weigh-in she had put on nearly 0.5kg so I am really really pleased - she will be weighed again on Friday when I take Amy to have her stitches taken out.

Islay was started on Cardalis (an ACEI and a diuretic) a week ago - I didn't go for an ECG in the end as I wasn't convinced it was necessary at this stage, but my vet agreed that we would try medication as a trial. I've noticed a marked improvement in her behaviour on dog walks :) :) :) I thought at first it might be wishful thinking/a placebo effect, but my mum (who has lots of experience) has said that you should see a difference within a week of them going on heart medication so I am hoping that is it. She is keeping up really well now and is a lot more interested in going exploring rather than trudging behind at my heels.

So all in all, I am feeling incredibly positive that Islay is going to be around for years to come :)

Amy has been fabulous, her wound has never been a problem for her and is healing really well, she goes back on Friday to have the two stitches out but to be honest she has barely noticed them at all and is raring to go off the lead again.

I have bought my vets chocolates for Christmas, but really I think they should be buying me chocs instead :D :D

Good news!

I'm buying the vet a tube of Deep Heat for Christmas after the 'blood-test-leg-shaving-massive-attack-of-the-screaming-ab-dabs-three-man-headlock-dog-crush-in-the-corner' incident :o :o :o
And she only managed to get one phial!!!!

Oh dear I shouldn't laugh but that description is just brilliant CC :D :D

I think my pair of black greyhounds think that this seasons fashion is for shaved legs since they have matching ones....luckily the orange and white greyhounds aren't so fashion concious. Yet. :)

As long as you're not sending the chocolates to 'the beautiful switchboard girls' (eh?!) I am sure they are very much appreciated. :p

Good news for the toothless hound. :)

THats all great news :) And the gumless eating sounds a doddle, bless her. Hopefully she will gain weight now she is not in tooth pain.

And new of Flick and CthePQ solutions?

LOL! Flick has been crated for the past few nights as the first step in that process, I think progress can been said to have been made as she is no longer waking me up every 3 hours howling.... I am not convinced she is clean in the cage (I use vet bed so it is surprisingly difficult to tell!) so I am going to source a smaller cage as per CthePQ's advice :)

Glad they are doing well, does your car take itself to the vets yet? :) Brilliant description CC, fancy upsetting poor little Floofy.

Yes it does pretty much go straight there every time I get in and start the engine :D I must admit the Floofy description makes me realise how lucky I am with the hounds :)

Good stuff - really pleased to read this! Get fatter soon Islay!

Thank you :) She is so funny, she is absolutely insistent that she gets her breakfast every day now, much to the displeasure of the others who don't get breakfast! It took Islay about 1 day to get into the routine.... :) :)

Lol I can say with absolute certainty that none of my dogs would ever attack anyone, unless that person was attacking me!

I expeci the local cat population are breathing a sigh of relief though :p
