Reading all the chatter about the forthcoming BE events, and course analysis of some of the x-country, it struck me that people seem to fall into one of two (or possibly three) camps

Those who will happily jump anything so long as it falls down (i include myself in this group
grin.gif
), those who will jump anything natural but who fear showjumps, and, erm, well.....Dressage riders

So which are you ?

I have clicked part B but I dont hate coloured poles anymore

I actually secretly like it lol

Hehe....sorry, no room for sitting on the fence in this poll

Coloured poles are SCARY!!! You have to jump them all controlled and cant just kick loads and gallop at them cos then they fall down!!!

I'm a 'showjumper' of sorts, I like things that can (and do) fall down, but I would try a little xc course (when I say little I mean less than 2'6"! haha)

See i really don't get that

I'll jump literally anything that has the ability to fall down...1.60m doesn't scare me (well not much anyway

)....but looking at that Intro course at Poplar Park just made me feel weak

I'm with you on this one Rambo, will jump any show jump put in front of me coz i know it will come down if we hit ot wrong but with solid fences if you hit them wrong then it will more likely be you and the horse that comes down and not the jump!!!

B...hunting, hunter trials and team chasing..if we could do A then we'd do eventing however Marey thinks poles are for kicking off thier cups

HEHE...i have a thing about being akward and sitting on the fence!

Yep, that's my (possibly irrational) fear too

I do find it amazing though that some people feel perfectly happy taking on big solid fences, and yet get scared of little flimsy show jumps

I clicked b, but I'll jump anything whether its coloured poles, xc fences, park benches etc. I do, however, hate dressage.

Rambo I ticked the second category. Whilst I won't jump 'anything' XC (size does matter!!) I am happier bowling along XC than SJ. Those coloured poles make me nervous... I don't care what stride I'm on XC we just jump - SJ I worry to much about striding. Perhaps I should just ride them XC style

If the horse can cope with the height I'll jump it. Only got back to riding a few years ago and had never formallly done cross country - just jumped anything that could be jumped as a child. So we started off SJ with some success and graduated to XC, horse not good at dressage but we're working on it and unfortunately daughter is competing the horse this year whilst her youngster comes on but next year - well if the horse is up for it so am I!

I'm a lot more aware of height now, even tho I know my horse can jump it I'd rather not jump over 4', and even that fills me with terror!

I went for B as I don't hate coloured poles but they hate me! They seem to fall off so damn easily - or is that something to do with my horsies dangly front legs????

I feel like they look down on me, almost pitty me. There is one girl who gives the impresion she thinks she is a better rider because she jumps and I dont. However I pointed out to her that the foundation to a good show jumping round is good riding between the fences.
Its each to their own if you ask me, I honestly get a huge buzz from a horse working well under me. I have a 16.2 irish horse that had no idea what outline was, infact had never been in a school till I got him, he now turns heads when he is working, Thats where my pleasure is.

I feel much safer riding at a solid fence then I do SJ's!!

Having Mac has really helped me with my Sjing and I have got out this winter and done much more then I usually would.

But I would still prefer to ride to a log/table/pimple/water/ditch! then an upright in the SJing!!!

I like things that knock down! Do HT, and XC on the beast but it worries me how he looks like a leggy eventer and am paranoid that he is better at it than SJ.
Dressage? Stressage!! Two doses of nupafeed and we still went sideways in canter..
