Sorry it is not better news for you both.
Fingers crossed it is not too long before he can start to weight bear on it slightly and that his other leg stands up to it ok. At least he sounds like a calm chap.
Some tips from when I had to do the 12 weeks of cross tying - use haylage nets with the small holes so it lasts longer and put carrots through them so there is something to work for. I used to make up several haynets and get people to put them in at random times through the day for him I also used to leave carrots outside and asked people to give him a carrot when they passed - ok so not great for a biter but my horse wasn't! I also used to leave a radio on (and changed the station each day so he alternated between radio 2 and classic FM!)
