Hello!

I'm venturing into the scary world of AAD, hopefully you guys can help me out :)

For my Honours Project I'm hoping to work with wolves and do behavioural studies using different types of food and sensory enrichment, and I'm looking for any different ideas apart from the obvious hidden food, scents and things.

I'm researching options at the moment but thought I'd ask in here :)

So, my long shot is has anybody worked with wolves and knows what they like/don't like? :p

Otherwise, what do your dogs like to play with, or eat, especially any unusual things you've discovered?

So far I have
Play items - big balls :p, disco ball to create spots of light for them to chase, ropes and tyres, etc.
Hidden food/foraging, e.g. puzzle feeders.
Food frozen in ice.
Food buried in a sand pit (not sure I'd be allowed to do that :p)
Scents - lemon, vanilla, cinnamon
Blood trail to food or rawhide treats.

Thanks :D

Aah!

Erm, stuff in plastic bottles (rice/beans always good!)

Cardboard tubes to rip apart.

The reels that cables come on that roll.

xx

I did a volunteer project at Christmas at wolf haven here.

I will warn you that there is probably very little they will let you change about their way.

Thanks Cedars!

Yeah I know, they have Fridays where the wolves aren't fed so I don't need to change their routine or anything.
They want to develop Fridays into Enrichment days I think, so it will benefit them to find out what new things would work best!

Umm, you could provide piles of fox poo for them to roll in lol, that seems to be my dogs favourite form of "sensory enrichment" at the moment
