May of you know the huge problems i am currently having and have decided the best way to deal with this is to get looking for my new horse.

sounds bl00dy awful i know bearing in mind mine is still in a field, but i am finding it all too hard to deal with and i think moving on quickly when he goes is the best way, so i was wondering if anyone knew of anything

im looking for something between 16hh and 17hh ideally will go down to 15.2hh but no lower
5-10 years
good dressage prospect, would also like to hunt though and maybe do low level BSJA so ideally a good allrounder but with a lot of talent in the dressage sphere.
my budget is £3k

thankyou in advance, and please no nasty comments about it being wrong for me to be thinking about the next one when ive still got my baby boy, this is very very hard and im just trying to get through it

i know i may struggle but no harm in hoping and i am willing to put the work in am not looking for the ready made pone

just one with a bit of experience and the potential

Hi there,
Just to let you know I had to retire the mare I was riding for someone last year - it was one of the hardest things I've had to do. But it was for the best for her, I now have a 5 year old mare who is awesome and going to be great fun. I have felt guilty but getting a new one was the best thing I could have done for me. Enjoy looking but don't rush because then you can end up making wrong decisions.
Take care

Pix-I pm'd perdy about my friend-ask her all about it!
I for one think you are doing the right thing. Its no good to 'keep trying' when its clearly not safe for you to do so. This way you keep your confidence and hopefully have many years riding ahead of you.
Good Luck in your search.

What about this

16.1HH 9yo Thoroughbred gelding by Definite Article

Winner of six races over hurdles and fences and many may more placings

A beautiful looking, kind quite horse

Cross country schooled, will go nicely on the flat and a sweetheart to ride - Never gets fizzy

Has hunted several times this season with the Readyfield Bloodhounds with a small lady rider and has absolutely loved it - Snaffle mouthed

His ability still retained but needs a change of scenery

Would still be a brilliant point to pointer and hunt race horse/schoolmaster

Would make a superb eventer or show horse as has straight floating paces and a careful stylish jump

As quiet as a mouse to handle and do things with

100% sound and open to vet

£3000

Or

16.2hh 7 year old ISH bay gelding

This very sweet horse is a real tryer

He has come on leaps and bounds in only a few schooling sessions

He is really willing and wants to please

Shows a good scopey jump - Hunted in Ireland

Good to shoe, box, clip and in all traffic

Would help a nervous or inexperienced rider

£3,250

Both are on Horsequest so can't give you a direct link to the add. If you want to know which categories they are in just let me know.

I don't think it's wrong at all Pixxie. I started looking before I had sold Mazzie (she had to be pts before she was sold but that's beside the point). I found Genie and had arranged the vetting before Mazzie went, and as hard as it was Genie was vetted and came home the day after Mazzie went, and I had been planning on having Genie before Mazzie was sold, as much as I loved her.

Best of luck, and don't feel too bad. Big hugs and will be thinking of you.

So are you selling yours now? My dad has just been asked by someone (I think student/colleague of his) if we know of anyone who can rehome her horse. It is currently out on loan but she is looking for a new loan (long term I assume) or to sell it as far as I am aware. Unfortunately it is a bit older than you are looking for (15) but the details I know is that it is a 16hh Anglo-arab gelding and does dressage and SJ. That's all I know though - oh except it is white! That put me off taking it on as an addition - couldn't be doing with the cleaning!

I do know of this one very local to me though sweet little mare - the link to her ad is

http://www.farmersguardian.com/classified_details.asp?adcode=439311

(she's 9 - they forgot to put this in the ad by the looks of it!)

Don't know if yorkshire is too far aware though. At the mo she's a mother /daughter ride but they are selling as she is just not overkeen xc and they want o do a bit more eventing. Think she is fine over SJ and lovely dressage + good to hack alone/in company etc. Not sure what your is or what he does - if he has potential they could possibly look at a swap (I don't know that for certain though!)

It is not wrong to be thinking about finding another horse. Sometimes the bravest decision to be made is admitting that your current horse is just not the right horse for you at the moment. Remember the reason we all keep horses is because we enjoy riding them or spending time with them.

If you have a horse because you like riding, and you don't enjoy riding it for whatever reason, then there is nothing wrong with admitting this and looking for another one that better suits you at the moment.

I can appreciate what you are going through as I was in a similar situation with my boy about a year ago - we had various problems and I just wasn't enjoying riding him and was seriously considering selling him as I didn't have the time to deal with his problems. To this day I swear the farrier put magic shoes on him and he suddenly started to settle down, so he's still here!

Best of luck and I hope the right horse finds you (I have come to believe it happens that way round!).

Those equine agents seem to have fab horses - just a shame they're so far away from me...I like the look of Frugle.
There are a few horses around the 3k mark at the minute (just none 15.1hh what I'm after) so you should find something to fit the bill. I think you're wise to move on - you've made the decision with Marley so best think forward.

Im so gald your being a bit more positive , i think it is just what you need =) Ill have a look around for you and if you need to talk you know where i am =)

I've just been reading your posts with interest. Would a swap not be an option? As there might be someone around with a slightly quieter horse that might be looking for something to bring on a bit?
