One of the horses I help out with doesn't like hacking alone. He's still quite young (6 or 7yrs) and has only really hunted and hacked in company. If you take him out alone, he will nap, plant his feet and go no further
I schooled him on Thurs and decided to try a walk around the nearest field to cool him off. Had a tantrum and in the end had to get off and lead him in, and remounted in the field and he was fine. Friday we did the same thing, except he gave in a little easier and I rode him into the field. Tonight we trotted into the field, through the field, out the other end and went round the block, he was good as gold
Very minor thing, but for the horse that doesn't hack alone, a mini breakthrough! Tomorrow I think we'll try again, and maybe go a little further
Happy Twizzel!
