This morning i took Lucy to the beach. A rather strange time of year to do it i know, but i have always wanted to take her but have always put it off till next summer! Since Lucy was diagnosed in november i had to except there may not be a next summer, it was now or maybe never.

So this morning even though it was about -3 i took her to the beach. Unfortunatly the tide was in as low tide was at 3.45am! We couldn't do to much as Lucy is unfit but we had a canter and jumped a small tide breaker

Lucy didn't think much of the sea and wouldn't go in she loved watching the boats out at sea though. We could see the isle of white and i think she thought i wanted her to swim there

I didn't force her in just let her have a look. We spent about an hour wandering up and down the beach then came home as Lucy was quite tired. I realy enjoyed it and think Lucy did to. Here are a few pics. I have some vidios of Lucy spooking at the sea but photobucket won't let me upload them for some reason. I'll keep trying and post them soon.

Am so sorry but i have missed your posts, what is the matter with her?i can see she has her neck clipped which looks like some investigative veterinary procedure? x

Thankyou.
hadfos. She has been diagnosed with a rare illness called Amyloidosis. She has her desiner bald because she has lumps on her Lymph glands and they took biopsys to diagnose the problem.

Glad you had a lovely time, theres nothing quite like being by the sea with your horse is there? Hoping to take Izzy this year after all her time in the stable. Theres no bigger open space than the beach!!

I'm glad you got to fulfill a lifelong ambition before it's too late.I took my boy to the beach for his first time last weekend too. You can't beat a nice stretch of sand to ride along. There's just something so magical about it.

Just pleased you are out doing things you want to do with her and those memories will be with you forever, exactly what i would want to do with my boy if i had bad news,is there really absolutely nothing they can do?
Please dont feel you have to trawl over it again just for me and upset yourself,am sure some kind person could post me a link so i can read all about her! xx

Do it you'll love it. I'm so glad i took Lucy I would have regretted it if i hadn't. It was so much fun I didn't even notice how cold it was till we got back to the trailer.

Stunning pictures, there is something magical about a cold crisp morning and I cant think of a better place to be than on the beach.

Whatever the future holds for the pair of you, what wonderful memories you will have of today, and very well deserved both your faces say it all. Its all about quality not quantity.

Thats very true about the tides!!! They have an inconvenient habit of being in. Which beach were you at? Nearest one to us that we have found to have straightforward parking is at Redcar but its a long time since I went. If I dont get to do anything else with the Wizzy one this year then the beach is a must. Be good for her legs too.

Tis true you dont notice the cold when your having a good time - you wont forget today. x

We went to muddyford in Christchurch. It was a bit of a trek to get to the beach as the car park doesn't allow trailers or lorrys.

But that wasn't going to stop us
