A very hard decision ahead

Thank you all so much for thinking of me.

She went peacefully, didn't exactly go to plan but that couldn't be helped and the main thing was she was calm and went very peacefully. I stayed with her til the end. She was the most amazing little Horse. I feel so numb and lost without her.

I’m about to start Bute for my arthritic ex-racer as he has started to get very grumpy, which is unlike him.

You made a wise, selfless decision. Take peace with that. Far too many horses are left in pain for their owners benefit IMo

Someone once said to me you know how much someone is loved by the size of the hole they leave behind in our hearts. It's the same with our horses.
Ruby sounds like an amazing girl and it sounds like she had a wonderful life with you. She was very lucky to have found you. You have given her the most wonderful gift of a peaceful end, in a home where she has been so happy and so loved. Take comfort from that and be kind to yourself.

glad that she went calmly and peacefully, you have done the right thing for her, it is normal to feel a bit stunned that it is actually over but in time you will feel a bit better. lots of hugs for you!!!!!!!
